So we decided to give the latest in theater seating tech a shot for Avengers Endgame. It’s a significant up charge at $40 for 2 people for these seats so I was pretty stoked for the “totally immersive environment “.

Big mistake! Not only are the seats smaller, they don’t recline at all and the movement/vibrations are the equivalent of having a kid sit behind you and kick your seat and pull on the back every couple minutes. It was just distracting and annoying to us so we ended up moving to the recliner seats in a different theater.

They were nice about it and even refunded the up charge amount but lesson learned for us.

I tried the MX4D here in KC and felt the same way. We saw Thor Ragnarok.

Uncomfortable seats that almost felt like they leaned forward, rough jostles in what could only be described as a cheap-feeling massage chair during action scenes, stale water in the lines that sprayed and all at a significant increase in price.

It is a novelty that was not put together with comfort in mind. I'd be surprised if they stick around very long at their current design, but maybe some people like it. For me, never again.

Good to know. Now I can skip that experience.

We went the 4D route for Aquaman, and my kids loved it. Agree that the seats are less comfortable than the normal ones, but we enjoyed it for what it was.

I was thinking they should probably stick to kids movies. It seems like something kids would love, plus the run times would be shorter.
