Can anyone tell me what the Hawkeye billboards saying "It's time to be mad again..." (or something close to that) mean...?

Just wonderin'

Maybe it means they're actually going to start caring again about how bad their basketball program is. That's a step in the right direction at least...

Anger from a fan base is better than apathy. I guess if Fran can get Hawk fans mad about 30 point home losses instead of them saying I didn't even realize they played last night he will have earned his pay check this year.

It's obviously meant to mean "mad" as in showing intensity, enthusiasm. Not sure if I'm just missing some mad sarcasm in this thread...

I agree its very poor marketing since almost nobody knows what it means.

I THINK it stems from an early interview when Fran was sucking up the Squawks by saying he has heard that Carver had "mad" fans.

When you hire a coach that looks like a accountant I guess that's the best sound byte you can get.

Always a great sign of a stellar marketing program when you have to have a link on the website to explain what the hell it means!

At least with Nebraska joining the Big Tenevision conference they won't be the worst team next season.

Iowa wasnt even the worst team in the big ten last year. That though alone should make babies cry and heads explode. Honestly im looking forward to seeing how the team plays this year. I dont expect much but good god it cant be worse then last year. Who thinks holding the ball until the shot clock is down to 5 sec and chucking up a awful 3 is a good game plan? Also he played his kid.

I'm waiting for the day when our women's team's attendance is higher than their men's team's attendance. It's close.

Hahaha yeah idk how that didnt happen last year. Attendance will be better this year i think/hope/pray. Cant be worse :twitcy:

Our record may not be better but we will be more fun to watch...should keep our attendance numbers just above the isu women.

Speaking of women hoops...should be a good game this year between the two teams.

Holy over-use of Flash, Batman.

Depending upon which stat you want to use (total vs. average), it has already happened.

2009-2010 season attendance per NCAA statistics website:
