Normally I wouldn't take to doing something like this but just thought I'd pass the message along. This is the biggest home game we've hosted in years. The game itself is big enough, but consider everything else.

-This is a national (or at least regional) spotlight game on ABC
-This is the last time we will ever host Nebraska (presumably)
-The winner of this game takes the driver's seat for the Big 12 North (the last time this division will ever exist by the way)
-Last year's game set the stage for an incredible season, capped by a bowl victory, in a landmark game for the program and Cyclones everywhere.

The list goes on. As fans, I think it's just as crucial as with the team that we be cognizant of our obligations for this game. Get there early. Cheer loud. Represent the fan base well.

Our jobs are easy. Get in the stadium early. We all know how bad it bottlenecks around the gates. Avoid the rush ten minutes to kickoff and give yourself enough time to be in your seat when Jeff Johnson hits the field.

Actively cheer during the game. Make some noise when we're on defense. Celebrate each first down. Give the team your full backing.

Be back in your seat when the third quarter starts. I understand some like to head out and grab a beer at halftime. I've done it too. But make sure you don't miss the first five minutes of the first quarter because one beer turned into two (I've also been guilty of that).

Stick with this game right up until the end. How many times are we ever going to host Nebraska? How much do we long for football season between the months of January to August? Is it too much to ask not to leave with four minutes left in the game?

Please don't take this the wrong way. I'm not calling out the fan base or trying to complain about little nuances here and there. I just think it's critically important that as fans we all show up and do our part on Saturday, and in the grand scheme of things, that's not asking much from any of us. I'm just as guilty as anyone of not being in my seat when the game starts or ducking out a minute or two early, but I'm going to put my money where my mouth is on Saturday and I hope everyone else does as well.

Let's rock Jack Trice on Saturday and make each and every one of those Nebraska fans and players glad that they'll never have to come to Ames again (well, until after basketball season that is).

Go Cyclones!

ISU 27 Nebraska 23

Nice! And I'll add the following tidbit:

Since Rhoads took over...

We have never come back in a game that we have been losing by more than 6 points.

AND

We have never lost a game that we have been ahead by more than 7.

This underscores the importance of a good start by our guys, and maybe further, the confidence factor that comes along with that.

Do everything you can to get your butts in the stadium early and be loud at the beginning of the game Saturday as our guys notice and it does help.

do we get throttled every time we are on regional/national tv?

Yep.
2010-Iowa 7-35
2009-Oklahoma State 8-34
2008-Oklahoma State 17-59
2007-Kansas 7-45
2006-Texas 14-37
2006-Nebraska 14-28

I believe the last game we won on ABC was in 2005 vs. A&M 42-14 (I don't remember if it was on ABC, but I'm pretty sure it was) or Iowa 23-3.

A&M was on ABC

So close to being undefeated that year. If CPR was coach, and some of those games weren't called so conservatively, I think that would have been a Kansas of 2007 that season.

I agree, but 30% of our tailgating fanbase likely will tell you to take a flying you know what.

Sad but true.

thanks for trying to turn a thread with a very good message into a ******* match between yourself and those with differing opinions.

My request for Saturday:

1. Eat some awesome tailgating food for me
2. Drink some beers for me
3. Yell ******* loud for me
4. Enjoy the last game vs. Nebby

I'm still living in Texas and can't make the games. I'll be watching on ESPN3 while playing with my niece and nephew. Thanks all for your help.

This is the best thread I've seen on this site in a while. I'll be leaving my tailgate @ 2PM, and making sure my *** is in my seat @ kick off.

If you really need another drink (guilty of this), bring it with you. Who here hasn't drank in the Jack before? Seriously, it's very easy to drink in Jack Trice. If another beer is what's keeping you in the lots, bring it with.

I agree with Al, great post. While this was an issue last week, and IMO the first time this season, this will not be an issue this Saturday: Its Nebraska, everyone knows it will take time to get in the stadium, and I honestly think everyone was so used to the 6 o'clock kicks this season that the 1 o'clock kick crept up on a lot of people.

The past is the past. Starting Saturday we start a new trend for the future!

got in a around 50 jello shots and a couple of beers. It's pretty easy as you go through when its crowded. They just look at you and let you pass through.
