What does everyone think about Manny Ramirez possibly being in the all star game?

Personally, I think the guys who are having the best years should get rewarded.

That said, when MLB totally screwed up, imo, and made the game "matter" a few years ago it sort of changed my view.

I'd take arguably the best right handed hitter of all time on my all star team any day no matter what how many games hes played or if i feel like hes a good person, and i blame Bud Selig for that bc he will not have done anything this year to deserve to be on the team.

I think the fact that Manny is even eligible to play in the all-star game is a sad comment on MLB. In US Track & Field, you are bannished from competition for TWO YEARS if you caught cheating.

Why is it different for MLB? One word - money.

Why is it different for MLB? The All-Star Ballots are printed off before the year when each manager sends in who he wants on the ballot. Obviously Manny is one of the best in the game, Torre put him on the ballot.

Additionally, 2 years means most of those athletes are only missing 10-12 meets MAX. Manny is missing 50 games. (I'm by NO means defending Manny, but the comparison is apples and oranges).

First, it's the fans that are going to vote him into the All-Star game, so don't get ****** at MLB when that happens.

Second, outside of Beltran, Braun, Soriano, Ibanez, and maybe Dunn, who else is deserving?

A guy who misses 50 first-half games for any reason has no business being in the All-Star Game. I'm hoping the fans don't vote for him.

I think that you're the one who is mixing apples with oranges. The point is that in track, the athlete is bannished for TWO YEARS (i.e., two full seasons of competition). MLB bannished Manny for less than 1/3 of a season. So much for their no-tolerance policy.

Considering the All-Start game is just a popularity contest and not a showing of who actually deserves it, yeah sure he can get in. But if the All-Star game was actually about who performed the best in the first half of the season obviously he isn't deserving.

If he gets voted in he should get to play. If his suspension extended past the all-star break than he shouldn't get to play.

I hope that he doesn't get voted in, but he probably will.

His suspension ends on July 3rd, so he'd be eligible to play in the All-Star game, although again it doesn't look like the public is going to send him to St. Louis.
