All-Star Game

It's going to be a JOKE if John Danks doesn't make the team just because he's 5-4.

Wouldn't the JOKE be selecting a guy with a 11-17 career record who struggles to get past the 6th inning. He's had a few good outings, but let's see more of a track record before claiming all-star status.

12 of 15 starts, he's allowed 2 runs or less.

1 game - 7 ER
1 - 4
1 - 3
5 - 2
3 - 1
4 - 0

2.62 ERA is the second lowest in the AL, depending on what Cliff Lee does tonight.

And you're telling me he doesn't deserve to be in because he's on a limited pitch count and because he struggled as a rookie last year?

I'm not buying what you're selling.

What's missing in this discussion is his ranking in terms of WHIP - usually considered the best single stat in determining a pitcher's value. ERA is actually considered a less reliable predictor. Dank's Whip is nothing to get excited about even for this season. Once again, he doesn't have enough of a track record to tell where he will end up. His ERA will either climb to be more in line with his WHIP or his WHIP will drop to demonstrate superior performance. It would simply go too much against year's of baseball history to think that the divergence will continue.

Doesn't mean he's not an All Star this year.
