Algona B-G forfeits boys baseball conference title

I graduated from Algona Public, and those Garrigan dbags were always cheaters!!!

(just kidding. They weren't all dbags)

There was a 2A district game forfeited last year due to a pitch count violation.

Yep, Sounds like Garrigan lol. I always hated that we stopped playing them in football right when we were getting better, and my class hadn't lost to them yet.

I mean I feel like there's no winners here. Pitch count rules are pretty easy to follow but I wouldn't find much joy in winning that way.

Pitch counts are kept in little league for goodness sake. You wouldn't like winning that way but the rules are there for a reason.

I hate these things where there is a dispute. If there is a dispute then you should have to bring it up beforehand. Also no going back and changing the ruling after the fact.

Coming from an old NCC rival, the Golden Bears were and always will be cheaters!!!!

Just kidding for all of you Garrigan alums here.

After reading both articles linked here - not following what the issue is?

Scorebooks had a discrepancy, and said in case of discrepency the home team book takes precedent. Whereas 'official' book had the pitch count at 109, he should have been allowed to continue the batter.

What was ammended after the fact?

Same with playing players at both JV and Varsity and playing in too many quarters.

Had a situation back in my day where one of our football wins was in jeopardy due to a QB mistakenly playing too many JV/varsity quarters. Ultimately we got to keep the win, probably because the JV QB in question was doing mop-up duty in the 4th quarter of a massive blowout, not playing in a competitive situation. I don't recall how it played out but I don't think the other school contested it.

During the regular season there was concern it might cost us a playoff spot. Turned out even if we'd had to take the loss we'd have been in anyway.

Garrigan reviewed the video and discovered their book was wrong, so they reported it.

There was like a 20 or 30 minute delay in the game with a discussion about the pitch count so it did happen during the game
