Ahem

I don't think that will surprise anybody, especially after his recent trip there and rumors that have surfaced sporadically. I can't honestly say that I care too much at this point. He would be no more likely to start there as a QB and if he's willing to play another position, he would be just as good at Iowa State so he's just screwing himself over if he transfers there.

if he just wants to play ball hes screwn himself because hed be forced to sit two years ... leaving him with one ....

edit - atleast go somewhere where you can be the starter for two years and have that shot at the pros after your redshirt year ...

If Bates is the starting QB for Nebby the next time they visit Ames, I like our chances. Just sayin...

There are times when great athletes make not so great decisions - there are also great kids that have not so great parents that make not so great decisions for their kids.

Without parsing words - Philip's dad is trying to angle this with Omaha's media as if his son is a potential Heisman winner that is being held down by Chizik and staff. He's going to get him in at another major school and he's going to have the same problems there - more so if it's a fellow B12 school where he gets 1 year to play.

we'll this just smells like another situation altogether now dosn't it i never did trust bo pelini and the kNUckleheads

I'd say you can't go to any school in Iowa, any school we have on the schedule in the next 5 years, and you can't transfer within the Big XII Conference at the very least.

I think that rule only applies if he transfers and accepts a football scholarship.

He could go to Nebraska as a non-scholarship walk-on and pay his own way, at least as far as anyone knows. Tom Osborne is back at NU and if anyone knows how to work the system as far as that goes, it's him.

would he have to sit until 11 then? or would he be able to play in 10 as his final season?

sit 09 as the transfer rule ... and then 10 as the interconference transfer rule (i believe) so then 11 would be his first and last year ....

if i remember correctly something like this happened with lorenzen a couple years back after he was at the CC in cali where he was looking to go to baylor but since he was already at isu he would of had to sit another year ....

That isn't a loophole that works Monty. Honestly let him go to NU. Nothing like playing one season in college after all that work.

I say good riddance. He can go anywhere he wants.

This is the pure definition of selfishness. Don't even try. Hang your team and teammates out to dry two days before a roadgame? Mid-season? I don't care who he is or what his upside is - make decisions like that? Get him out of Ames as fast as possible.
