Not exactly sure.
Coaches have them, universities use them (search teams or whatever you call them) basically how the processes get started. I'm sure universities have one on mini retainer so to speak. With roughly 20 HCs you are hiring somewhat often.

With this idea, I don't think CPR was let go now " to get a jump start on the process". I think both sides knew and this gave an opportune time to drop the hammer and let CPR walk out one last time with his players. I also think ISUs people have talked to possible other coaches about their availability if something popped up. They wouldn't have to say where since most rep several colleges. I think the process has been in motion for awhile and the herd has been thinned down.

Do I have the agent idea wrong? If not, why wouldn't this thing be wrapped in a couple weeks if we find who we like? Outside them having a couple offers.

Coaches have agents. Universities have search firms. As much as anything else the purpose of the search firm is to get around FOIA requests and facilitate interviews in non obvious locations.

Search firm name was eluding me at the time, but yes that's what I meant. With this being a high probability, didn't we have the search firms putting feelers out in case we needed to. I always keep my eyes open for good employees and want to know if there is any chance if I need to hire. We are not like mizzou where the coach steps down.

If the deal was to achieve five wins, we were working it after the Toledo game.

Do the recruitment "tampering" rules apply to coaches? Can a search firm on behalf of a client university contact a prospective coach who is already under contract with an NCAA team? It seems that assistant coaches must be talking all the time to other teams since they stay in one place for such a short time.
