AB's "Brewed the Hard Way" Ad...

I haven't had a Budweiser for quite a while even though I was a Bud man at a younger age. I actually liked the Super Bowl commercial and it made me thirsty for a Bud.

They were officially added to my #boycott list after that -- including the craft breweries they've bought. I refuse to support their nonsense.

Why can't people just drink whatever they feel like drinking, I don't care if it's bud or some beer with a goofy catchy name.

Just seems like a dumb ad if they dont understand that a lot of people drink a range of beers. Ill drink a cheap beer like a bud light if i just want something easy drinking, or i'll try many other craft beers. But ******* on the craft beers in your commercials makes me less likely to choose you when im in the mood for a bud\coors type beer.

Too much beer snobbery. Don't understand why so many people feel the need to **** in everyone elses beer choices.

I like to have and sample different beers but hate taking crap about what I choice to drink. I like my Guiness (when at a proper pub) and am a big fan of several of the local Summit brews but don't like taking crap when out catching the game at a local bar when I opt for a low alcohol lighter brew like a bottle of Mich Golden. I am not always interested in something mega hoppy and am also not always looking for the high alcohol content that comes with most of the craft brews. I don't often hear any of the dudes calling me a ***** drinker offer to be my designated driver!

In the past, I would have said different beer styles all have their place. Like some of you mentioned, some beers aren't suitable for certain occasions. But leaving aside foreign vs local ownership debates and whatever else, its just so ****** for AB to intentionally attack and lobby against a rising industry that threatens them because it thrives on innovation, quality, and craftsmanship and they are too unwilling to compromise profit in order to keep pace with them.

To me its more about supporting smaller, American owned breweries over huge international conglomerates than it is about type of beer or whatever. Same reason I will always spend alittle extra to buy something at a local store rather than line the Walton's pockets while they pay their workers minimum wage at Walmart.

I didn't like the ad, but then again, the ad was blatantly not for people like me. I don't drink their beer, and I'm not going to, because I don't think it's any good. (P.S., it doesn't mean that I haven't tried it)

In that sense, the ad wasn't really about beer at all. Just a socio-political rah-rah for their current base of customers. Which I guess is fine.. what's the point of advertising again?

So much wrong with this ad.

#1 Bud is trying to put out the message that craft beer drinkers are ******* and Bud is for the all american, hard working, bad-***. There is a slight problem with this when you're making the beer closest to water while I'm drinking a 12% ABV craft beer. Also, 99% of the craft beer I drink is owned by brewers here in the good ole USA. InBev is not. This is similar to Dodge and their patriot ads. This ad was aimed at rednecks and it probably worked.

#2 Making **** of craft beer even though they continue to gobble up craft brewers. Even making fun of a style (Peach Pumkin) that one of these companies make. I don't even want to mention lima rita, all the apple crap they put out, etc.

#3 I've bought my last Goose Island beer a few weeks ago. I always had the mindset that as long as they keep making good beer, why not buy the beer? Since then I read someone talking about how supporting brewers like Goose Island just feeds into the problem. The more you buy from Goose Island, the more money InBev makes, the more craft brewers they buy, the more lawyers InBev can hire to fight local brewing regulations, the more space they get in the shelf, etc. There are so many good craft brewers out there that it's not a big deal for me to give up brands like Goose Island. The brand I'm torn on is Boulevard. They are owned by Duvel. I'll probably continue to drink Boulevard until I see/hear them do something nasty.
