AAF in Des Moines?

I think it could work, would anyone be interested to actually go to these games, even of it's within Drake's stadium? Would the populace of Des Moines (or Iowa in general) be supportive of this, more so than the Barnstormers?

Seems like Des Moines would be way smaller than any city they currently have and have worse weather so matching the current attendance feels like it'd be a stretch.

Well....that rules out DSM then unless you know of a dome stadium I"m not aware of.

I"ll admit I haven't watched any games, but I didn't think AAF was arena football, is it? I thought it was regulation sized game/rules??

It is. That's why I'm not sure if its too big for Wells Fargo Arena or even the old Veterans Memorial Auditorium

That has been reconfigured into a grand ballroom on the second level and several meeting spaces on the main level. It can no longer house sporting events.

I miss it too. Just so unique and nostalgic.
That said, WFA and the new Vets have blown me away with how used they are.
I personally dont love the interior setup of WFA but the management is killing it with keeping it used.

The UNI Dome would actually be a perfect venue for this. Maybe when Iowa was mentioned, people just assumed Des Moines. I can't imagine how you could play in our climate February through April without a dome. It'd be a disaster.

These are the 2017 population estimates. Most are 30-50 markets, except for Des Moines and Dayton. Those two cities must have something else working for them to get on the list.
