1) Stay off the strip: Places like Green Valley Ranch or even Sunset Station have the full Vegas experience, are closer to the stadium (you can walk from Sunset Station to Sam Boyd Stadium..and Green Valley Ranch is my favorite casino by far), and the gaming is better. Local casino slots have about (guesstimate) 5-10% better odds, on average...also, they have better poker rooms, and cheaper table games ($5 tables are common...some even had $2 tables), and much better sports books.
2) I read on here that somebody says they've done it all....LOL! Look around there's so much in Vegas, you haven't done it all. If you need a day to do something other than gambling,
--go out to Redrock mountain....directly west of the city, about 10 minutes outside the city. Beautiful scenic park, and great rock climbing.
--visit Boulder/Hoover Damn
--visit Las Vegas Speedway
--Lake Mead -- you can do waterskiing, fish for large mouth bass, striped bass, catfish, and even trout...plus a lot of nasty carp
--Kayack (sp?) down the Colorado River...you can do a tour with a guide, or I believe you can rent your own. There's some really cool warm springs right off the river that you can stop at and take a dip....however, its a LITTLE bit more relaxing in a month or so when its not in the 90s still.
--Helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon....that's fun, and its really not that expensive, or relatively inexpensive.
--I think there may be a quail hunt right now, you can hunt just to the south west of town, plenty of quail as the hunter numbers are dwindling in Vegas right now
--Check out a HS football game....the Bishop Gorman HS puts out tons of D1 players (Demarco Murray is starting tailback at Oklahoma right now), and Green Valley HS by the stadium has a solid program every year.
--there's so many different things to do in Vegas, I'm just scratching the surface......
3) Don't act like you own Vegas....sure, you're paying the bills, but the problem is, too many come here and do stupid, stupid stuff here, and most go home....some end up dead though or in jail. Just some friendly advice from somebody that was born and raised here, and worked on the strip for years.....some of the stuff you see is just sad.....people trying too hard to have fun, but take it too far.
Just east of downtown (I read that someone is staying at the Golden Nugget, this means just east of you)...is a fairly bad area of town. Don't walk around outside the canopied area, there's a lot of homeless crimes, and some fairly ruthless gangs (I'd be more worried about the homeless than the gangs though)
---Anyway, if you have any questions, I'll try and stick around and answer them for you. If you can change your hotel reservations, the two casinos I mentioned are very much up to snuff, and you'll enjoy your time there. I also know the guy that just built another casino/hotel (or rebuilt an old one) that just opened up in the past month. Its also in walking distance to the stadium, its called The Cannery (I think the Cannery East?).
