I am trying to watch a movie on my laptop but I get a DVD region error. It is saying that that my current region code is FREE and the DVD itself is region 1. It will only allow me to change the region code 5 times. What I guess I don't understand is why the region code of the DVD player and the disk would be different. I have tried multiple DVDs and get the same error. I am using a Dell Vostro with Cyberlink PowerDVD program.


So after the fifth time will I be able to play the DVD again or will I be out of luck?

Is it a new computer and sold in NA?

The regions are 1 (North America), 2 (Europe/Japan), 3 (Korea areas), 4 (South/Central Americas and Australia), 5 (Russia/Middle East/Africa) and 6 (China). Without voiding warranty and whatnot, it sounds like you bought a computer with a reader from another region. Get a new reader, or talk to someone that knows more than I do about computers.

EDIT: If it actually reads "free" and means "three" I will be beyond tears in how awesome that would be.

Okay I went ahead and put the movie in and changed the region code. Now all my DVDs will play with the region one code. So it looks like since I had never used it before it had a default region code. So I think that problem is fixed.

Now I have a new problem. I am trying to download a digital copy of the Dark Knight. When I do it a message comes up and says I need to connect to the internet. I am connected to the internet and can not figure out the digital download does not work. I do have the password but I can not even get that far. Has anyone else had this problem?
