90's Hip Hop

I think it's the best era OF that genre.

Best eras of each genre is an interesting topic.

Nostalgia bias at work IMO, lots of good 90's hip hop, but tons of fantastic stuff in other decades as well. That said, you're saying Crossroads is the best 90's hip hop song?? I can't agree with that.

90s Hip Hop is clearly the best era/genre. Best song Tha Crossroads by Bone Thugs. Prove me wrong....
Was actually discussing this with buddies recently. Totally agree. We were lucky to grow up in that era.

The lyrics... however.. would not go over well today!

Edit: Bone Thugs were fantastic. Thuggish Ruggish Bone... Notorious Thugs... 1st of tha Month... goodness!

I'd think their lyrics would be pretty tame today.

I don’t consider that list to be hip hop, which to me is groups like Naughty By Nature, Salt-n-Pepa, Young MC, Marky Mark, etc. There haven’t been any hip hop groups since the 90s.

Hip hop put in basic terms is just the mixture of rap with instrumentation or electronic music. Rap, RnB, Soul, jazz are all intertwined and the genres are nearly indistinguishable.

Also Marky Mark? Lol

Run the Jewels is basically that retro feel you're talking about. I agree that vibe from the 90s is mostly gone though. Eggs n Jam in Valley junction plays that style of music

Late 90s/early 2k music was my wheelhouse. Even songs I didn't like at the time are 1000x than the crap played today.

90's without a doubt. Such a broad range. You start the decade with groups like Public Enemy. The start of the decade has such a crazy mix of talent like NWA, Tribe, Dre, 2pac, Wu Tang, Beastie Boys, etc. You move into the mid 90's with Biggie, NAS, Fugees, etc. The end of the 90's dropped off a little in quality but you had artists like Jay-Z becoming more popular.
