Steele's completion percentage through 2 games.

Compare that to his 53.3% last year (or if you want just the first two games, than 54.5%)

He's getting better folks. He's checking down, he's making the right reads, and minus that dumb pass in the endzone he made yesterday, he hasn't tried to force anything.

He's our QB, there won't be a change, so jump on the bandwagon!

Good post. With Kirby and our defense doing their thing, I think he (and the rest of the offense) will have time to get better as the season goes on.

If Steele sticks that one in the endzone vs throwing the pick..... Everyone loves the game he played.

I love the kid... hopefully he drops the turnover bug again.

That throw that Donatalle? picked off was a horrible throw and should not have been made. Otherwise I agree.

Those opportunities we ****** away yesterday will get corrected, we moved the ball folks. Steele is better than last season I think we will settle in.

the throw at the end that was picked by Morris was awful too. Thankfully that didn't cost us the game but knowing Iowa's offense was sucking all game that was the worst possible thing to do in that situation.

Bad read for sure but I don't think he forced it. There is a difference. He forced his last INT

Just to give it a little context, only 8 D1 QBs had a completion percentage better than that last year and it puts him at 29th in country in completion percentage.

And that was against two bowl teams from last year, against a tougher schedule than almost all other teams. We still haven't gotten a cupcake and a lot of the QBs ahead of him already have and haven't played any tough teams. Especially not two.

SJ talked about the INT to Morris in the post game interview and he tried to look him off and then come back to Horne. SJ thought he had moved Morris, but he obviously didn't. A little more patience is all that should be needed to see that and either check down, run, or throw it away.

Jantz will get better. Dude is still raw.

He said in the post game he looked the LB off and he started moving away, so he threw it. However, the LB started coming back the opposite way really quickly and made a great play on the ball and picked it off.

i'll add that he clearly out performed perhaps the best QB in the big 10 last season. At least the best passing QB?

Yeah and his first half was very, very good.

Vandenburg is now what, 7-2 at Kinnick? He is usually very good there.

I was there vs Pitt last year. He was insane bringing them back.

Steele was not near as bad as people think. He made a few bad plays, but there was a lot of good stuff he did out there. Actually I really like what I am seeing outside of a 5 or 6 plays.

Just keep in mind, the complaints are all in the context of last year. If his first game for ISU was the Tulsa game, there wouldn't be any fan anxiety at all.

While I think his performance yesterday highlighted a lot of need for improvement (e.g., hitting open recievers deep, zone read), I admit that I probably wouldn't be being so critical of his performance if he hadn't thrown that last pick. I hope you guys are right that we're seeing a new and improved Steele, but I'm worried that little has changed from last year. I just think that some major adjustments need to be worked on over the next two weeks, and hopefully that will do it. But JB should be showing up ready to play.
