I am no football coach or head coach but why not go for 4th and 2 with Oklahoma winning by three scores in third quarter. Why play like Danny Boy again. I thought we were over McCarney era?

I love Coach Rhoads but this is among probably the few times I didn't understand his play call.

I am not saying we win this game but why not go and let Woody do his magic on 4th and 2? Trust the team for crying out loud.

Defense was playing well and ultimatley did make the stop. Offense wasn't playing well at all at that point during the game.

Don't get it and you give OU the ball with a short field. Punt it, flip the field and hope for a defensive stop...

Could have gone either way but how things played out, it wasn't a terrible call IMO.

Because Brewster said he should go for it.

I respectfully disgree.

Woody has a sure hand and playing with good ball security. Even if we fail to convert, why not risk it. The defense is causing enough turn overs for this Iowa State. The offense is playing scared. Come on Rhoads, play like last week.

Had OU scored and blown the game open after that punt I could see some criticism, but the D held and forced a punt. It's a non issue.

4th and 7 deep in 4th qtr in your own territory. And now you go for it?? Wow!!!

Different situation. Down by more points, later in the game. I can see your argument, but a case could be made for going for it or not going for it in both situations. I was kind of wishing we would have gone for it on 4th and 2, but whatever. I'm not going to sit back and nitpick every decision Rhoads makes. He knows what he's doing, and has more than earned our trust. Wasn't even that questionable of a call IMO.
I think Rhoads plays to win, without playing stupid, to perfection. It's always seemed to me like there's a fine line between the two.

I agree with the call, offense was bad all game, defense was playing very good. Trust your defense, we did and stopped them but the offense just couldn't do much.

I agree that ISU probably wouldn't have won regardless, however I also think we should have gone for it. I love Rhoads for his aggressiveness, but today he seemed to play very conservative. It was almost like Rhoads was resigned to us losing and was just trying to keep the score close.

I have the greatest respect for Rhoads, however his coaching seemed a little out of character today. I can't remember one "gutsy" call today. Most weeks there is at least one, just a little to conservative for me today.

Disagree Cdub. It was a HORRID call. It was a chicken **** call. What's the difference between losing by 7, 20, or 50? Nothing. You play to win and you have to go for that on the road against Oklahoma. Defense plays to win, special teams plays to win, but we don't ever let our offense do the same. I don't get it. One of the few times I've disagreed with Rhoads

How many times was our offense over the 50 in the seocond half? Once? And we didn't even go for it on 4th and 2? Plus our punter was terrible today and I think he punted 20 yards. Makes no sense

I can't believe this type of reaction on here, we did exactly what we needed to do and got a stop on defense. Solid call by the coaching staff on this one. I'm not one for second guessing the coaches after every loss. I can see why you might disagree with the call, but I believe it was the right call to make with the disparity between our offense and defense today.
