Just for an update, the Waverly-Shell Rock Go-Hawks are sending 13 wrestlers to state out of 14 weight classes. 11 champions, 2 seconds, 9 pins in the championship round, including Eric Thompson (ISU recruit).:notworthy:

Waverly should win the whole thing. Happy to see my high school (Indianola) place ten wrestlers in the tournament. Eight of them will be back next year.

You're an IHS student?

I'm an IHS alum.

Did you notice how the DMR didn't have an article about Inidanola winning the CIML title?

They must be a bit bummed though, I know the goal was to advance all 14, oh well thats life.

They can't win 'em all. Must be tough for them. Look for IC West to get 2nd and CR Prairie to come in 3rd. State wrestling always has big time upsets and it won't be any different this year.

Don Bosco sent 12 in A.
Going for a three titles in a row.

Is Waverly going to fit all those names on the back of one shirt?

Wow didn't realize how many of us Indianola natives are CF posters!

Are you kidding, where else would we be? Small town school having to compete against the big schools and getting little to no respect even after competing well. Then off to Iowa State where the whole process is repeated. You're probably a Cubs fan in baseball, and cheer for the underdog in football. Quite the lot we picked in life. Worth it when we overcome and win though. Go Indians in the state tournament, and go Cyclones at nationals!!

Let's go Columbus! We haven't won a state championship since 1999, but we were pretty dominant before that. We sent six wrestlers, and three have a legit shot at winning, including one sophomore that beat the 1. from illinois and the 1. from Misouri.

Go Boone Toreadors!

Oh wait, we didn't send anyone to state...first time in way too many years that has happened I believe...quite sad...

Ballard is sending 11 in 2A with only 1 being a senior. Should have a very legitimate shot at a state title at least the next couple of years. They have beaten a couple nationally ranked hs teams this year in a tourney in Minnesota.

drmwevr08, I had the same thoughts....there always seemed to be way too many EIU fans at IHS.

Hopefully we can get 3rd or 4th at traditional state and duals. Maybe they could pull off 1st or 2nd...but Iowa City West and Waverly-Shell Rock would have to be victims of major upsets for that to happen!

Personally I'd just like to see us wipe the mats with SE Polk next Tuesday in our path to State Duals...since our regular season dual w/ them was cancelled TWICE this year (weather) so we had to take on the title of "CIML Co-Champs". Doesn't quite have the same ring as in '06 and '07 when we were THE "CIML Champs"

my school wrestled your school at team state when i was a sophomore in 1996. i think you guys won it that year, we got third. think i had to wrestle one of those pugh kids. i got stomped out.

Yeah, the pughs are pretty awesome. Everybody thinks you're supposed to sy it pug though. It's actually pew. They last two years a pugh has won at least one state championship. Where did you go to school?
