27 NFL Players Arrested in 2013

Yesterday a guy from, the Browns was charged with murder. He was small potatoes compared to the drive by double shooting murder and then later his mafia takeoff to seal the lips done by Aaron $40M Hernandez.
Unless we are thinking of different ones, I think it was attempted murder. Victim still alive, for now.
I heard someone on the radio yesterday claim this arrest rate is lower than the general population. Of coarse most of the general population does not have a posse to take the fall for the small stuff.
Does this seem reasonable to you? I've never worked with or around colleagues who had arrest records like the NFL. Never been around individuals like R Lewis, or Ochocinco. I used to work construction during college summers and those dudes had some criminal records - mostly Public Intox, but nothing compared to what the NFL employs.
It would not surprise me if the NFL has more convicted felons working than any other vocation - except maybe politics.
32 teams x 53 active players per roster = 1696 active NFL players
27 arrests / 1696 active NFL players = 1.6% of NFL players arrested.
I am not to worried about this, it is lower than I thought it would be. I would expect other professions to have a higher percentage than this.

the percentage is even lower than that. Several of the players on that list weren't on a 53 man roster last year.
I hear this stat thrown out there a lot and I think it's a little misleading. Income level is a big driver, I don't know the stats but I wonder what the arrest rate is for adult males who make the equivalent amount of money.
If you have a criminal record like some of these NFL players you would not be hired at the (5) companies I worked for in my career.
well they are playing football and providing entertainment for people. They aren't exactly privy to peoples personal information like accountants/lawyers/doctors etc. So I guess I don't see the big deal if they have some offenses in their past.

and the people at your company probably couldn't get hired to be an NFL player. What's your point?
I don't get your attitude janny because you seem to have a lot of posts alike - with no point whatsoever.
My point has nothing to do with getting hired by athletic ability - as if you couldn't make the connection, but the the fact that the NFL allows convicted criminals to get, or remain employed, at standards far more lenient than the typical average workforce.
So that's 3.2% when extrapolated on an annual basis....
BTW, I think I saw a blurb that the NBA rate was near 5.5% and higher than the civilian average.

except, that's not really correct, is it? Considering data shows that 1 out of every 4 American adults has an arrest or conviction that would show up on a criminal background check. Somebody's hiring these people.

Is the percentage of NFL players with criminal records that high?
NFL players who commit crimes make news because they're higher profile people. That's pretty much it.
