.

Friends have a lake house, two bedrooms, kitchen, living room, bath. Behind it is the Stuga (Swedish for "cottage"). I would call it a cabin. All one room plus a bath. It has a couch, a bed, but also a kitchen sink, stove and refrigerator.

On the farm we (my older brother and I) built a cabin by the crick when I was about 7. It was about 12' x 12'. So to me a cabin is smaller, pry two rooms at the most.

How does one go about finding a cabin for sale? Are they just listed on the normal real estate websites?

A buddy and I were talking about living on a lake vs having a cabin, and I think having a cabin is not just about lake access, it's about the woodsy-decor, trees, a bit more rural, etc. He thinks living on a lake is the same thing that makes a cabin a cabin.

He said there's no difference between a brand new ranch house with lake access vs a cabin in the woods. I said part of going to a cabin is the touristy-stuff like antique shops, ice cream stores etc, not just the lake.

What say you? What is better? What would you rather have?

Was having the exact same conversation with a buddy but it was about ottomans and hassocks.
