Ok fine, he tossed a chair in 2012 and nothing happened. The ejection in the Wisconsin game where he made contact with an official, where he was suspended a game by the Big 10 but nothing from the University. Coming onto the court against Maryland last year and getting ejected.
At least Fran hasn’t done anything as disturbing as this....

The conference did not ask for or expect an apology from Fran for the chair incident at MSU.

Suspension, as you noted, and a public apology from Fran and public reprimand from Barta after the ejection in Madison.

The ejection against Maryland was pretty weak last season. I have seen coaches do much worse and only get 1 technical.

So your point was when has the University not punished Fran for his actions. My answer was never. You've essentially agreed with me. He's publicly acted much more inappropriately than Dolph and never received an ounce of discipline.

By the way, the public reprimand from the Wisconsin game came from the Big 10 and not the University. In fact Barta came out in support of Fran:

So again absolutely no discipline for any of this from Barta.

The school's athletic director, Gary Barta, also released a statement.

"“I’ve met with Coach McCaffery regarding last night’s ejection from the game in Madison. He knows he crossed a line of acceptable behavior and accepts responsibility for his actions. All staff at the University of Iowa fully support the Big Ten Conference’s sportsmanship policy’s fundamental elements, including civility and respect toward opponents and game officials."

That's a public reprimand?

So I'm curious then, does the punishment for each offense in your mind fit the "offense"? A mild talking to for making contact with an official and getting tossed from a nationally televised game vs. getting essentially fired for a comment that was in no way intended to be racist but could have, theoretically, been considered to have somewhat racist undertones if chosen to be interpreted in a way that it was not intended?

A 1 game suspension and public reprimand from the AD along with a public apology from Fran is enough of a punishment for the outburst in Madison.

I think the indefinite suspension was too harsh for Dolph's recent comment about Fernando.
