***2023-24 Mens College Basketball Thread***

Would be difficult but there is a very real possibility that the streak gets broken with a preseason top 5 team in a god awful basketball conference. The other sports are really clicking based off his hires so he has the juice and alumni backing.

I just hope Izzo take a long look in the offseason and doesn’t just stubbornly hang on for years without changes.
Who would you have on your shortlist for replacements just out of curiosity? I happen to know a lot of people at United Wholesale Mortgage….in conversation with many high up there is that Ishbia would throw a fit with the whole thought

I don’t think people really understand how bad Izzo is at coaching anymore. He finally started the stud freshman, we had an easy double digit lead and then he benches them for the rest of the game. He’s washed and needs to retire
To me, the worst losses are when you lead the whole game until the last 10 seconds. Sorry about that. I thought you guys had a red carpet rolled out into the tourney, but took a detour today. As you've said, reputation might still get you a ticket to the dance.

I mean my first choice would be TJ but think he’s pretty happy at ISU. After that it’s Oats and then the list gets real ugly real fast. Izzo has zero coaching tree and zero succession plan.

Ishbia would be livid with a firing and I get it but I see zero way that Izzo would get fired with how much he means to the school. It would be more like an announced retirement. Probably with a final farewell tour year and everything.

I didn’t even know about Oats at Romulus, that would be a great hire actually.

Im sure MSU is happy to take Ishbia’s money - any school would. He’s also not the only billionaire backing the school. And he’s a terrible person by all accounts. And constantly throwing tantrums about anything and everything. I agree this would be no different.

Does Msu even think about going after an assistant?

Ehh I don’t think most people would say he is a terrible person but he is making some decisions lately that make him look like a major douche. Sparty has other major donors (the three nba owners hate each other though) but he is the one most connected and dedicated to athletics.

Ask anyone in the mortgage business outside his immediate inner circle and they would disagree. I know him personally - I’m sure he’s an absolute handful for the university.

Oh yeah I totally understand the mortgage business side of things. I’ve only met him a couple times but he always seemed fine. He’s a billionaire so I’m probably grading on a curve lol

Velentine? Haven't tracked his career.

So we play Houston toe to toe on the road, they move to #1, and we drop 2 spots, 1 below Kansas. Makes perfect sense.
