2017 budget

Lots of interesting things in there.

Total athletics budgets:

$102m Iowa
$72m ISU
$14m UNI. How does UNI remain so competitive?

Residence Hall profits:
$9.8m Iowa
$9.1m ISU
$4.8m UNI

Apparently, there is gold in them on-campus students.

Does UNI still get like 5-6 million from the state for athletics?
and Yes, UNI does a heck of a job considering the money issues.

man, wasn't is like only 8 years ago when our budget was like $29m?

Noticed UNI is giving "cost of attendance" stipends to men's basketball and women's volleyball.

Firing Rhoads cost $6,282,816. Not sure if that was his check or his check plus the cost of the search (and payout to Toledo if there was one) for Campbell.

They are also projecting a pretty significant decrease in football ticket revenue. Down from 9.7 million to only 8.7 proposed budget. It does show a "Multi-Media Rights" revenue line of ~$5.375 million. That would be interesting and more than most estimates if that is for Cyclones.TV. Not bad but not great if it includes the radio and everything.

Decreased revenue may be due to the Iowa game being in Iowa City this year.

We also have 7 home games this year. I think Jamie always shoots low on ticket sales as a worst case scenario because we always seem to come out ahead of budget in the end.

An extra game should outweigh having both UNI and Iowa at home. At least I would hope that to be the case. However, they did sell a lot of the SEZ season tickets for nearly the same price as the mini-pac last year.

Well they spend twice as much on debt service, $16 million vs $8 million for ISU. Kinda surprising given the projects that ISU has built but that is what JP does best. They are broken down differently so it is hard to say.

How in the world does Iowa spend $30 million more on athletics than ISU?

Iowa has more sports than ISU. That is a good place to look for finding the reason for the difference.

They do have their pending combating lawsuits claiming their AD gender discriminates against both men and women.
