Could be chaos after the second pick since nobody knows if Boston will keep it or trade out for someone else. Either way should be an entertaining draft after the first two are off the board. I hope Georges goes somewhere but I would bet he goes undrafted and signs with someone as a FA.

Agreed. Which might be better for him in the long run, depending on who he'd get drafted by, because being a FA you have the ability to go where you want/feel is a best chance rather than being stuck with a Sacramento or somebody if they draft the rights to you.

No way they keep all of them, 8 is just too many to have in a single draft. This is the first draft in a little while that I can remember this many current players being named to potential trades for the picks + something else. There could be a lot of movement tonight.

Yeah. I hoped Kane would find a landing spot this way, too. And when he signed with the Lakers at the time they didn't have much at PG. It didn't work out, but Im hoping Georges goes with the same kind of thinking if he doesn't get drafted tonight.

Yeah, I think there are only a few places that Georges should WANT to go (Spurs, Pacers, Chicago, etc.) other than that I think FA might be his best option so he doesn't get stuck somewhere that won't use him correctly.

I'd love to see the Bulls take Hield. He's a sniper, and I think he would fit well in Fred's system. I love Georges, but I don't think he'll get drafted.

There is zero chance Hield drops that far.

Can you hold the rights to the player but not have him occupy a roster spot? Not saying they would, but could the Celtics just take second round flyers on a few young international players and see how they develop?

As a Lakers fan, I'd love to see them pick Ingram and then get Georges in FA. I think he would be a great fit for what Walton is going to try to do there. Although I worry about his ability to defend in the NBA, and the Lakers can't afford to get worse on the defensive end. Alternatively, I'm not sure the Lakers can get worse defensively, so maybe Georges really is a perfect fit there!

No clue. I honestly don't follow the NBA that much. I'm interested this year because I'm hoping for good things for Georges. He's a great guy and he deserves a real shot.

If no trade for "star" materializes, and at this stage I doubt it does, I expect them to take Dunn @3, one shooter, with a home run shot (Maker?) with the other 2 firsts and a bunch of Foreign draft 'n stash prospects late.

Ainge will also sell a couple of their picks for money and trade for future picks. While I agree the top of the draft is rather week. Picks 14-45 is relatively solid should all have a chance for roles on teams. There'll be teams who see a player who fits their roster and will be jumping back in to the draft.

Yep, you have their rights until they want to come to the NBA. Works that way with US guys too, if they turn down your offer and go overseas, ala Aaron White last year. You can draft and stash ten guys in a draft class if you would want to.

Yes you can hold the rights to a player without them occupying a roster spot which is exactly why you always see teams select foreign guys you've never heard of & likely will never hear of again once we get into the second round.
