My league's offline draft is this Saturday so figured I'd start an advice thread.

With Le'veon Bell's suspension being reduced to 2 games I see that he's moved to the top of ESPN's rankings. I have the 4th pick in our draft & I still think I'd prefer AP, Charles, Lacy, & Lynch over him.

Anybody have any tips for cloudy backfields like Dallas, Detroit, Atlanta, Tampa Bay? (Other than avoiding them altogether of course)

Good luck on your season(s)!

A draft already this Saturday? The preseason hasn't even started which puts you in a weird spot for trying to dissect backfield situations. It somewhat helps though in that you can watch preseason games and probably pick up 1-2 guys that nobody even knows at this point who are big later in the game.

How many teams and PPR? Either way I'd probably have Lacy and Bell up near the top of my board, have to play for the long term and a 2 game suspension wont hurt you come playoff time.

This Saturday? You realize the season starts Sept 10, not August 10th, right?

Good lord, OP, you're leaving yourself a month to have your guys get injured.....we are drafting August 21st and thats as early as I'll go.

Well, I'm in a 12 team standard scoring league. Not sure if you guys have ever tried to get 12 people (most with families) together for a draft on one day, but it's not exactly easy. We have no problem drafting a month early if it means we can get 11/12 people at the draft.

Tevin Coleman is gaining momentum as a popular pick. I never like to rely on rookie RBs, but it sounds like he could serve as the main guy in Atlanta's backfield.

You stole my retention thread! How dare you! :jimlad:

My draft is the 15th, we do a live regular draft.

I'd avoid them. Go to teams that have a plethora, but none that stand out. San Fran? Bengals, Pats, Lions, Cardinals. Guys like Johnson, Abdullah, Bernard would be good to load up on for a RB3 in case injuries happen, which always do. Go ellington, but handcuff Johnson. It just depends where you sit on your picks.

Here's my post-draft results. 12 team, standard scoring league, with 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX. I had the 4th pick & fully planned on going RB/RB, but couldn't pass on Gronk with my 2nd round pick (pick #21).

B. Roethlisberger
B. Cooks
A. Robinson
J. Charles
M. Ingram
Gronk
A. Ellington
Colts DEF
S. Suisham

Michael Floyd
B. Sankey
D. Baldwin
B. Perriman
D. Johnson
C. Kaepernick

Obviously thin at WR, but I think I can get to the playoffs with this squad.

Woah. People are already having drafts? We haven't even sent out the email to see who's in this year. It seems that early drafts would be too long before the games actually start.

I usually just get the thread started to talk about who people think will be steals this year at each position, as well as possible busts.

I had Foster last season. Got really lucky that he was great for most of it.

Love your RBs obviously. Also like Big Ben, how late did you get him?

WRs may be an issue, Cooks is much more primed for PPR leagues but with everything the Saints lost in terms of offensive production, particularly receiving, he could be positioned well to take a big step up in terms of yards and TDs.

Woof. I just traded him two weeks ago for pick 1.09 in the rookie draft, Frank Gore, and Roddy White in my dynasty league. This is exactly why.

Pretty sure I got Ben in the 6th, which I loved.

After I got Ellington I really wanted Johnson. Think it was round 12 when I got him, which I was happy with since there are 4 UNI grads in my league.

So I draft 6 in my 12 team standard scoring league.

Right on the edge where I'm not sure where I go. Assuming the top 5 picks go AP, Bell, Charles, Lacy and Lynch.

Do I go best available and go Antonio Brown knowing I'll be screwed for RB's or do I take a McCoy/Demarco and hope for the best down the road with receivers having a lot of depth?

ESPN has it:
1. Bell
2. Lacy
3. Charles
4. Peterson
5. Lynch
6. Brown
7. CJ Anderson
8. Forte
9. Murray
10. Demaryius
11. McCoy

RB will typically get you more points then WR's, so Id get the best remaining RB.

Need advice. I am in a semi-keeper league and can keep 3 of the following 4 players, which should I keep? Alshon Jeffery in the 6th round, Mark Ingram in the 7th, Mike Evans in the 8th, or Deandre Hopkins in the 12th.
