Great player running the show (Seneca and Kane).
Awesome start including beating a very good Iowa team
Big Big 12 win gets the hype going nationwide (Texas Tech and Baylor)
Top Ten midway through the season
Fans get kicked in the nuts*
And probably finish about where everyone thought they would (Making a bowl and making the NCAA tournament!)

*"Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat itâ€￾. We probably let our hype get too high (again). Now, lets not get too down on this team.

Stupid thread. Stupid

Considering that ISU is riding a three-game losing streak and staring down the barrel of a gauntlet stretch of their schedule, is it really that outrageous of a comparison? Especially since the previously stated parallels are pretty eerie.

Not at all, if you remove the ISU stuff from them, these would basically apply to every team in the country right now.

Great player running the show
Awesome start including beating a very good (insert team name) team
Big win gets the hype going nationwide
Top Ten midway through the season

So the only real parallel is that the team was top 10 and then went on a losing streak.

I honestly thought this during the game. Was surprised to see someone else felt the same. There are similarities....yes.

No, this team will shake off a bunch of wins from here until March. The month of February is much easier than the strech we have just gotten through.

Totally agree! Thus why I said they would still be an NCAA tournament team.

I hope this post didn't come off as thinking this season was going down the drain. I really meant it as a don't give up because we will likely still finish where we all thought and hoped we would at the beginning of the season. We just aren't a top 10 team.

I guess 2002 football isn't the best example of that...whoops.

wut?

If the team finishes around 17-15 with a first-round NIT loss at Boise State — then it's comparative to the 2002 football season.

Agree on that. I haven't seen anything to make me think we'll end up with more than seven losses, tops. Likely five or six. We are slumping and in the toughest part of the schedule. It gets better, and soon.

He forgot the biggest parallel of them all: Rated number 9 going into Norman, Oklahoma.

I thought this exact thing going into that game. Knew better than to post it on here because I'd get flamed for it.

But I don't think this basketball team will share the same fate as that football team. This bball team will finish top 4 in conference.
