Well he sure as **** isn't going to ever be confused for a post player. He's a tall guard and his game falls somewhere in between a 2-guard and 3-wing. Also, are you having trouble with the quote function?
Yes...not sure why.

Oliver (in the 5 minutes I saw him play against a bad exhibition team) reminded me of a skinny Wes Johnson. Of course, it is scary that any player can described as a lot skinnier than Wes could be a problem.
If players fall into the categories of guard, wing or post, Oliver and Ejim are clearly wings.
Eh, we're talking apples and oranges here and it's mostly irrelevant, but Oliver is an okay ball handler and has an outside game (not much of a slasher and can't play inside). He would definitely rather play outside of the arc if it were up to him. I know we don't have much to go off of, but of the handful of times I've seen him play, this is what I've gathered. Ignore his height and watch him play and you'll see what I mean.
I'll bet 6,000,000 credits says you never seem him at the guard postion.
You honestly think having Brackins on the team is a problem?
Every player has games like that. A game after Sherron Collins dropped 33 he went 7 for 20 from the field, 2 to 10 from 3 point range, and had 4 TO's in a loss to Tennessee.StLouisClone;1479483]No. I said I'm beginning to think he's part of the problem. By that, I meant that he is not helping us win games with the way he plays. He is far too inconsistent. For every game in which he scores 30+ points and helps us almost beat KU, he'll have a game where he shoots 5 for 15 from the floor and we end up losing a game we should have won.
Not done, done...done for 2010...DG, Colvin, Buckley, Christopherson, Boozer, Lucca, Phillips, and Bubu. How many should we have?
An able warm body at the 4 or 5 spot is a definite need. Along with (like I have said for 2 years now) a PG (cough, DG, cough) able to hit a wide open top of the key 3 pointer.
Imo, all we should hope for from JVB as far as minutes next year would be to provide breathers for Dendy and Hambone. His game is not suited to play inside the lane, where a 6'11 player belongs.
Any Juco bangers the staff is looking at?
wow you completely butchered Gilstraps's nameGildrtap and Brackins are both likely gone IMO. At least thats the way it look right now when we are activly recruiting so many new guys.
Nobody I would classify as a banger.

I totally agree. I'm hoping Phillips can be a scorer at the two and make up for some of Gilstrap's loss, but we are not going to replace Brackins with anyone nearly as talented next year. This needs to be the year we make our run, which doesn't look promising at this point, but there is a lot of season left.If Brackins and Gilstrap are gone, the talent level takes a hit, it doesn't rise.
But I just can't help but wonder how this years team would be with a guard or two like DeMarcus Philips...
It's this way with every recruit we get. Remember during the year Lucca was forced to sit out how we all thought he was the answer to our problems? Not a knock against Lucca, he has been a serviceable starter for two years now, but he does not have the ability to consistently take over games (except against Drake). I heard people with similarly high expectations for Garrett, Buckley, and Colvin before they arrived on campus. Again, Garrett is serviceable. Buckley is an okay reserve. Colvin is too young to really gauge at this point, but it's not like he stepped in right away and became a go-to guy.
I hope Phillips is different. I hope he is good enough to be the answer to our inconsistent guard play. I'm just saying that we have thought the same to be true about our recruits in the past, and it never seems to turn out because it's all relative to the guards that our competition is recruiting.
Plays at a consistent, under control pace with killer crossover. Shoots it decent...free throws are a question mark at times. Capable of defending, but he doesn't know it yet. Very good at creating for teammates. There is an edge/attitude with him that rubbed me wrong at first, but definitely grew on me. Much better with the ball than off the ball. A little shorter than I expected, but has a frame that will fill out. Appeared that he lost some weight since this summer.
We ultimately need more help at the post positions. PF and C are our needs for the future. Ham is good but not great.
