I wonder how ISU / Iowa compare to places like Texas, USC, LSU, Alabama, etc.

Last year's numbers, but interesting for the Big12: Texas Tech cracks Top 25 in retail royalties | College Sports Blog | Sports News | News for Dallas, Texas | The Dallas Morning News

Here's another site that lists the Top schools according to one company, but doesn't have numbers.

Auburn Doubled Merchandise Royalties With National College Football Title - Bloomberg

Anyone able to find actual numbers for the top schools?

Are royalties 10 percent? $10 mill worth of cyclone stuff? Woah dude.

If thats correct I figure on average a $20 a piece thats 500,000 purchases. That doesnt seem like all that much.

Or more likely take 54,000 people that attend football games and it comes out to each of us made 9 purchases. That sounds more like me.

Does any one think the "I State" logo is a small part of this? I really like that logo and love to get stuff with that logo on it.

It could be a small part of it but I think most of this has to do with the recent success of the athletic program. Just look at the attendance last year for football (I can't find anything to compare to last year). I am sure that this helped drive sales as there were probably more casual fans that attended and bought gear before a game.

I for one miss the cy logo. I state could be 3 other schools.

Except it's not for any of those other schools and people now actually recognize our logo. I can walk down the street with an I-State ball cap and people notice it as Iowa State. The brand recognition is much improved.

I'm fairly sure nearly no one has heard of Illinois State, Idaho State, or Indiana State.

I don't miss whirly bird Cy much at all, and I hated the I-State logo when it was unveiled. It's a great logo. Sharp, professional, and has been branded well with time on SportsCenter. And most importantly, no more blue.

yeah, but it doesnt look as cool

(I typed that while thinking it with my whiney voice... I'm pretty sure that means I win the internet disagreement, but its been a while since I have won in that way, so let me know if my victory doesnt come across, and I will work on it. Thanks)

Yes I agree that we have really differentiated ourselves with the I-State.

Has anyone noticed one of our variations on cy looks a lot like Louisville's logo.
