After losing to the Hawkeyes, and seeing what UNLV did to ASU, does anyone else fear a 3 or 4 win season?

If they cant score touchdowns from the red zone it looks like another long season aka 3/4 wins!!

If you cant beat UNLV who is a last place team in the mt west, you just make the mountain that much higher to climb and the job just got a whole lot harder.

BTW ...I think KU will be a whole lot tougher than the squawkeyes!!

Tell me what you think boys ...

I still think 6 wins. We will get better as the season goes on. Let's see how the coaches react, what they can improve from this ugly loss that very well could/should have been a win.

FWIW, this board has been a little disgusting---seeing people want McCarney back, totally trashing the coaching staff, going off the deep end. It's one game with too many mistakes. Granted--it was against the worst team to lose to (in my opinion), but in the end it's just 1 loss.

I projected 7 wins at the start of the season, Iowa was not 1 of them, but after watching the game, Iowa is a BAD, BAD team and if we can not beat bad teams, then we are looking at 4 wins.

I drop it from 7 to 4 because we can not beat bad teams.

I was calling for 6 earlier, and still think we can get there. However, being the betting man that I am, I would not bet on more than 5. Next week will be telling, because we are going to have to be able to win some on the road this year, with away games at UNLV, Baylor, K-State, OK-State, and Colorado.

Well considering Iowa might have been the easiest game we will have in a while, and we pissed it away, I am not feeling so good.

Than I remember that we couldn't have played much worse offensively. The coaches couldn't have coached any more poorly, and it's Iowa's superbowl, and I feel like we will still get 6

There are a lot of winnable games on our schedule. 6 wins or better is certainly still possible. I'd give us slightly less than 50% odds of getting there, but not much. Remember our team is very young and should therefore improve throughout the season more than others.

The team will continue to get better as the season goes on. We have games against UNLV, Nebraska, K-State, Colorado, Baylor & A&M that could go either way. Kansas looks beatable too. I still think 6 wins is a possibility.

Wow, and the over optimism is deflated... Whew..
I still say 4, MAYBE 5. Although not playing like yesterday, but that should be a little better from time to time.

I still see improvement and with our young guys, the future's looking bright. Not 2009 and beyond, but as THIS season goes on. Arnaud will learn and play solid as the season goes on, as will the rest of the offense. The defense will undoubtedly improve. Frankly, I couldn't agree less with those that say we lost to a bad team yesterday. Iowa's no Top 10 team, but I think--as much as we hate it--they are not bad. They are average to even a bit better than that. Ask Chiz what he thinks about their defense. Doesn't sound like he thinks it was bad, bad, bad. Let's not melt down just yet.

Hey, it we are a terrible team come November, feel free to pull this thread and mock me. But it ain't gunna happen.

I don't know what you guys are smoking, Iowa is not a bad team this year. Wishful thinking on your part, but if you think Iowa is worse than they are last year... well... there's nothing I can do to help.

I still think we stand a good chance against UNLV. Arizona State is overrated again? What a surprise! Last night win changes nothing. They'll be a bit more confident next weekend, but that could lead to over-confidence. Prior to this game, UNLV lost 21 of its last 22 games.

Said 4-5 at the start and will continue to say that.

I also said we had a better chance to win at Iowa than UNLV. I am sticking to that as well.

I believe we will beat A&M, Nebbie at home. The 5th win will have to come on the road, but that will be hard to come by regardless of the opponent.

ok, Iowa might not be a bad team, but they are not a good team also. The Iowa QB (Christensen or Stanzi), is the worst QB, ISU will see all year. Everyone else has someone respectable at that position.

I said 3-1 nonconference with the one loss being either Iowa or UNLV and 3-5 in the conference with the wins being Baylor, Texas A&M, and either Colorado or Nebraska. I'll stick with my 6-6 prediction.

Not sure why everyone thinks that the sky is falling? We lost to Iowa in Iowa City in less then average conditions. We made a ton of mistakes and failed to capitalize on some big opportunities to put points on the board. Overall I thought the defense did a better job wrapping up and tackling while the offense seemed to drop the ball when the defense came up big. This was a learning experience for our team and I still think this team is capable of great things.
