    NCAA in Des Moines

Curious if any tickets usually become available after pairings are announced... for example, if Kansas fans bought tickets for Des Moines thinking they would be the #1 seed here, and they get assigned somewhere else?

    KRNT Reuniting Marty & Miller

I think Ken makes his "living" on whatever he does with sports betting in Vegas. I'm sure the income from sports talk radio is nice, but he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who's going to do a show he doesn't enjoy. Whether or not his departure had anything to do with Heather, she should have...

IHSAA to reprimand ref who ejected JP

Yeah, I'm not exactly going to the bank with one of Marty's "reports".

JP kicked out of game at Gilbert?

On one hand, it doesn't seem like much of a comment to get someone kicked out of a HS basketball game. On the other hand, someone of JP's stature should probably be sitting in the top row of the bleachers, far away from where the refs or anyone with a cell phone camera can hear his comments.

WHO-TV Now Trying To Strong-Arm DirecTV for More Money

Time for these satellite and cable companies to strike a deal with an out of area or national station for the network (ABC, CBS, NBC) programming. See if NBC Omaha or Chicago wants to be on in Des Moines. The local content (news, etc.) isn't worth a dime.

    Zach Borg?

Murphy's blog says Sears graduated from Dowling. You have to wonder about the long-term career choice to move to Des Moines as the No. 3 (or 4 if you count Fales) sports guy though, considering what they did to Shawn Terrell and Borg. I guess it worked out for Hassel. You just have to hope the...

Eric Church concert this Saturday in Guthrie Center

I'm afraid Arganbright2 is going to be right...I think they should have limited ticket sales to 10K -- still more than double last year. But I suppose even if you **** off 16,000 people from Des Moines, you can always hope to draw 4,000 locals again next year.

Isn't Ankeny opening a 2nd high school soon? Rhoads could jump then.

    What happened to Tirrell?

Apparently it has to do with new ownership/management at the station but it could also have something to do with financial matters. A show called the Hawkeye Huddle also on 1700 (and also sponsored by Toyota) says their show was taken off due to management changes at the station, but they went...

    The Corn Belt

This would be a great trophy for the football game -- something different than everybody, a little unconventional and lines up perfectly with the sponsor. Send it to Iowa Corn -- they still have time to consider it before their press conference!

    Food Pyramid Replaced by Plate

Within 10 years grocery stores and restaurants will be replaced and the government will just mail us the food we're allowed to eat every day.

    Favorite boy names

Luke is solid. I also like Kyle. Using a last name as a first name can be a good option, especially if there's one in your family tree you like. It's hard to be original (especially if you're coming to a board like this for advice). I have young kids and Wyatt and Cooper are more common than John.

    Sidewalks

It sounds like a great idea. Think of the money you'd save on snow removal! Of course, all of the bums would immediately move to your town to sleep on them.
