Iowa State WBB 2nd nationally in average attendance

He has always said at coach's lunch to just call his secretary, to see the facility, to watch a practice... I'm not bold enough to do that, it would be great to have a few events a year for charity. Bring a can of food for the food bank. Have an alumni scrimmage, that would draw a crowd!

    Spring Signing

Last we heard, there were no plans to sign anyone else this year. But they are definitely looking for transfers, other sport athletes, etc, that would help our depth at least. So someone could suddenly pop up.

    Blaire Thomas verbals ISU WBB

Hopefully Iowa losing its way this season will nudge a few in-state prospects our way. Is it absolutely impossible we will play Iowa at Iowa City in the NCAA? Or just highly unlikely? Iowa's record against ranked teams means they are a lock at this point? After this season, I hope we will always...

    Blaire Thomas verbals ISU WBB

I saw that a junior guard from East was named 1st team CIML, is she a potential prospect? Or does someone else already have her? How long has it been since a DSM player came to ISU?

    WBB bracketology

I think two home games ago was half price for ISU staff, and I saw an email for girls teams the last game. They are constantly promoting. You might email the marketing office and make sure your email is on the list.

    gold uniforms

BF told us at his lunch today that next year's 3rd uniform is grey. Apparently very popular with the buying public, but obviously not with the die-hard fans in attendance. Not much else of note today. He did say we are competing for 3-4 players with top tier teams on their short list. That the...

    Questions arise

How much have we played slow down, dribble in the back court, besides Baylor? In that game, they obviously were trying to keep our only ball handler rested, so she could play every minute she could. Everyone is doing a much better job of scouting, and taking away what you are good at on...

So how good is Okie State?

One, she wouldn't be here if she didn't have the green light to shoot from 3. And two, BF is at every practice, and knows who can and can't shoot the 3. Three, it opens up the offensive floor when she hits, or they think she might hit it. We use the strategy that gives us the best chance to win...

So how good is Okie State?

If she hits a couple tonight, and Baylor has to bring their monster out to cover that shot, it totally opens things up for others. And she wanted to come somewhere where she could play to her strengths, which is obviously more the finesse game than the shotblocking game. She has improved her...

Hilton atmosphere during womens' game has deteriorated.

Sorry, I should have included this one as well: Contact On/By the Ball Handler/Dribbler: Defenders are permitted one touch on the ball handler/dribbler in order to measure up. The next touch by the same defender on the ball handler is a foul. Too much contact on the ball handler/dribbler...

Hilton atmosphere during womens' game has deteriorated.

From the NCAA website about rule changes: Freedom of Movement: Excessive physicality and the lack of freedom of movement will be enforced by officials. Players must be permitted to move freely and without being held, pushed or rerouted.

Hilton atmosphere during womens' game has deteriorated.

I hope someone with more knowledge will chime in, but basically TAM's whole wrestling-style of defense is now supposed to be called a foul. And though they don't consistently call it, they call it a lot more often than they have in years past.

Hilton atmosphere during womens' game has deteriorated.

I think with the new rules and TAM being gone, we've turned the corner on brawlball. Someone has finally gotten it that thats not what fans like to watch. I ran into someone who has been a season ticket holder longer than I, and his comment was the Oklahoma game reminded him of the reason he...

NOTEBOOK: Bill Fennelly press conference nuggets (1-14-13)

Last month he said they are specifically following transfers, since they are growing in number every year. I assume they will be looking at other sport athletes just like that. Not just a specific player in this specific situation of need. You probably aren't going to find a starter in a...

NOTEBOOK: Bill Fennelly press conference nuggets (1-14-13)

It was a very vague reference. I imagined he was talking VB, but not sure if he meant ISU or other schools, or maybe both. He did say if we have to play small, we can do that. Brynn at the 4? We could see it... When you are recruiting, the final decision is always out of your hands. He also got...

NOTEBOOK: Bill Fennelly press conference nuggets (1-14-13)

Sorry, thought of one other thing. Our PF from Arizona is running for the first time this week, coming back from her injury. He said her surgeon and her trainer work with the Cardinals, so she is in good hands. He expects all three scholarship players to compete immediately for PT, if healthy.

NOTEBOOK: Bill Fennelly press conference nuggets (1-14-13)

Not much new at coach's lunch on campus today. He did say that Jadda has Ames H.S. circled on her calendar to be back from her ankle injury. That she had had lingering issues after a previous sprain, so they are being cautious to have her 100% at state. He did mention in recruiting that they are...

    Jessica Schroll

No one has ever said, but judging by comments her dad made on this website and then deleted, it sounded more like a teammate issue than a coach issue. I'm hoping the way the whole Jess thing went down made BF realize he needs to always have control over his temper. You can't teach your team that...

Depth Issues & Number on Roster

From what BF has said before, the AD wants him to give as many scholarships as he can. But it comes down to, I think, it takes a special dedication to practice and not play. Given the choice, most people would rather be a star at a smaller school than a role player/bench rider at a big school...
