2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees announced

Very little rock and roll music has been created for the past few decades. And yet, they keep holding rock and roll HOF nominations every year. So artists that aren't really rock and roll artists, or ones that aren't of the caliber of the early inductees are getting voted in. They really should...

    Kansas City Trip Suggestions

For BBQ I would recommend Jack Stack's. It is a little more expensive than some BBQ joints that are in a strip mall but in my opinion the food is excellent and the ambiance is nice without being "stuffy". For steakhouse, I would recommend Great Plains Cattle Company in the Ameristar Casino. I...

    Deck Stain

I have done this a few times on our deck, and have a couple of recommendations (#3 addresses your question): 1. I like to mix 50% cedar and 50% clear color for the stain to dilute the color so that it is not so dark. This is a matter of personal preference, but some dark deck stains, when...

Sweet Sixteen Iowa State vs. Virginia predictions.

I am nervous about this game, but I've finally convinced myself that several factors will allow the Cyclones to win. We can be sure that Georges will have a great game. But I think the keys to victory will be how good of a game Abdel and Matt have. I believe that Abdel will have a great game...

Is there still hope that Naz returns?

I do think we have a legitimate shot at it. I haven't compared stats, but from observation it seems Georges is playing as well or better than ever. Also, this team seems to rise to the occasion when they want to - even though they can also play unfocused at other times. But we did beat Oklahoma...

Is there still hope that Naz returns?

I was just going to post a similar hypothetical. If we made it to the Final Four, but Matt got injured in the Elite 8 game (and was out for the remainder of the tournament) would people want Naz to return to try our shot at a national championship, or would they prefer to have Naz for all season...

Daniel Edozie is writing an auto-biography

This is an article about Daniel. It says he is writing an auto-biography. Also, he hopes to go to law school and practice in the US. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/STEVE-COTTON-COLUMN-Daniel-Edozie-s-triumphant/story-27941148-detail/story.html (Also, why is does the word "auto-biography" get...

    Advice: Home A/C

I highly recommend 72 Degrees out of Ankeny. We had them replace our AC, and they have been very, very, good about fixing some follow-up issues that resulted because the replacement unit they originally sold us turned out to be bad unit from the manufacturer (not their fault).

    Hogue arrested for DUI

For those that haven't read the updated story from the Iowa State Daily, he wasn't driving at the time. He was sitting in the driver's seat of his parked car. Apparently that is enough to be arrested for, but I am not going to criticize him for that.

    Goal-line Technology to Determine Touchdowns

I agree with some of the other posts - at first, this sounds like it should be doable, but then when you think about it there are problems to overcome. The first two, at least, have already been mentioned: 1. Was the ball carrier down before the ball crossed the goal line? 2. How can you detect...

I hope I'm not taking this thread too far off track, but is that Sylvester Stallone in the audience behind the fighters, standing up at the 2:08 mark? It looks a little like him at least, and this Google search says that he was in attendance: Boxing Is---: Reflections on the Sweet Science -...

The math behind going for it on Fourth and Short

Iowa State has one of the top statistics departments in the country. Maybe the athletic department / football program should hire a grad student intern to analyze the data in this and other types of game situations. Some interesting strategic insights might pop out.
