    **Cap City 2019 Thread**

Drake fan here (yeah, the user name is probably a hint). Anyway, 4 of Drake's top 5 players aren't playing in Cap City this season, not sure why. (Anthony Murphy, DJ Wilkins, Roman Penn, Noah Thomas). Would definitely rather watch those guys than the 3 Drake walk-ons in the league. I'm...

    Rutter leaving?

Did Rutter do much recruiting for the previous staff, when he was an assistant? Obviously, he's not doing any now as the DOBO.

    Capital City league finals?

I'm a Drake guy, but both of my kids went to Iowa State (one of them graduated from ISU)

Clyburn's team was eliminated last night. (he wasn't there)

Royce vs Craig tonight in CCL

Hines (Utah transfer) is definitely not a tall white guy. :psmile:

Royce vs Craig tonight in CCL

You're right....there was some tall white guy wearing his jersey, not sure who he was. Babb's dunk was sick, but I think the one he had last week was even better.

Royce vs Craig tonight in CCL

The transfer from Utah hasn't played in the league yet. You're probably thinking of Carter, who is a juco transfer. Like last year, only about half of Drake's guys are playing in the league.

Will the Capital City League Survive

Yep...Hines played 3 years at Utah after redshirting. He graduated in May, and because he graduated can play at Drake this year without sitting out a season.

    Amy Stephens resigns

Drake women had 9 NCAA tourney appearances in 20 years before she took over....1 in 9 years while she was at Drake. And, they only made the NCAA that 1 year because Drake hosted the MVC tourney. Drake Bulldogs - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Big 4 perspective from McBulldog!

I'm not sure if I agree with that. It might be different if the two teams rarely played each other, but this year was something like the 171st time the 2 teams played. I can't speak for all Drake fans, and I certainly can't speak for the team, but I personally get much more fired up for...

    Drake.

The new medication regimen has really helped. :perr: I agree that it's a lot for a ticket, but it's basic supply and demand. If Drake can come close to selling out at $28 a pop, then there's no reason for them to change it.

    Drake Loses to D2 School

FWIW, Drake only had 5 scholarship players in uniform. Didn't make it any easier to take, as they were dominated in all phases of the game. I don't think there's a single Drake fan left who wants to see Phelps here next year.

*** YMCA CCL stats from 7-10***

Not doing a summer league at all. There are 5 or 6 guys who are rehabbing from various injuries, and none of those guys showed up at all. Then, about half of the other Drake guys went home a couple weeks ago and won't be back in town for a while. Tom Davis started this league when he was at...

*** YMCA CCL stats from 7-10***

I'm not trying to downgrade what the ISU guys have done in the league this year....there are a lot of really good ISU players out there.....but the main reason for the numbers this year vs previous years is that the participation from Drake's players in this year's league has been virtually...

    *** YMCA CCL stats from 6-22 ***

For the most part of the last 2 summers, the Drake players simply haven't shown up at the CCL. There were 6 Drake players there for the first day of games this summer, and only 3 or 4 for the last couple of nights. 7 of the 13 Drake players haven't shown up even once.

    CCL tonight

I think the guy he was describing is Judd Welfringer from Waukee, who will be a freshman at Drake this year.

    Capital City League

I'll try to go into more detail later on (need get some work done today), but I was really impressed with White and Clyburn. White really surprised me with his passing...he didn't look to shoot much, which is extremely unusual for any player in the CCL, but I'm guessing he's a pretty capable...

    Capital City League

I've been going to these games regularly since the first year they had the league (about 7-8 years ago), and that was definitely the biggest crowd I've ever seen there.

Misc: How long will Mike Quade last?

The problem isn't Quade. The problem is Jim Hendry, and has been for the last several years. Plus, a worthless team president and a clueless owner. The greatest manager in history couldn't win with this team. Not saying Quade has done a great job, but I don't blame him. Cubs have a team...
