Williams & Blum Pod: Cy-Hawk, Omaha & offensive coordinators

Respectfully, I disagree. I understand where he was rated and the teams he was apart of. And I am in no way denying his potential but having watched him closely since the 7th grade, nothing in his skillset suggested him making an immediate impact out the game. Him not being able to make an...

Williams & Blum Pod: Cy-Hawk, Omaha & offensive coordinators

The sad truth is a lot of evaluators at the youth level don't have a great pulse for the game. Granted there will always be players whose game won't translate at the next level but we are seeing a lot more "misses" than ever before.

Williams & Blum Pod: Cy-Hawk, Omaha & offensive coordinators

And up until this point they got it wrong. Nothing in his game indicates he can play the power forward at a high level and he doesn't have the offensive skillset to play on the wing. He's a tweener, which is the main reason he is struggling right now. The reason it didn't show early was because...

Williams & Blum Pod: Cy-Hawk, Omaha & offensive coordinators

That's not a bad comp at all. There is not exact science when it comes to recruiting and scouting. I'm rooting for the hometown kid, I just know these things take time.

Williams & Blum Pod: Cy-Hawk, Omaha & offensive coordinators

If his perimeter skills continue to grow, I can see an Al Farouq Aminu/James Johnson type player. Someone who is switchable defender and can make plays with the ball in his hands.

Williams & Blum Pod: Cy-Hawk, Omaha & offensive coordinators

I respectfully disagree. Before I go into depth about my view point on Omaha, I think he's a great kid whose best basketball is ahead of him. With that being said, I came into the season with serious questions about Omaha's development as well. Despite the fact he played on all of the top...

This is why Prohm must go........

The discourse during that time was almost unbearable. So many people kept giving him excuse after excuse when he showed absolutely nothing to justify that belief. It's a shame some of ISU's most talented teams never reached their full potential because he was at the helm.

    Is this sustainable?

I love our energy and effort. This team plays with intensity and heart. Playing in one of the best conferences in sports, it hard to gauge where this team is at right now, but nothing has shown that this team will not be able to compete and continue to turn some heads.

Are we cautiously optimistic or all in?

I am cautiously optimistic. I came into the season not expecting much but I have been pleasantly surprised at how hard this team plays despite not having some of the names/talent as other P5 schools. Even after win against Memphis, I want to tamper my expectations but I believe that no one can...

    Prohm Fired

As a fan, I'm glad Prohm is gone. But regardless of how I feel about him as a coach, he has lead a clean program for the past six years and has been nothing short of a great person. I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

Steve Prohm says he'll meet with Jamie Pollard to discuss his future next week...

I didn't realize I said anything wrong. I'm sorry his tenure here has been nothing less than mediocre. Hope he lands on his feet but far away from this program.

Steve Prohm says he'll meet with Jamie Pollard to discuss his future next week...

The fact that this is being prolonged a week instead of him being relieved of his duties tomorrow is troubling.

Hard fought game. This is the energy ISU needs to play with every game, win, lose or draw.

Who Actually Wants To Coach In Ames?

I've been very critical of Prohm since he first came to Ames. I have been very vocal about him underachieving with teams that should have made the Elite Eight at best. Even in the name of transparency, I didn't even hold the 2017/2018 season against him because that was expected for anyone who...

3 of the last 4 years

And what you just described is the main difference. That's not to say Hoiberg didn't have mishaps but he was generally able to get the team to buy in to the system and trust each other. Prohm laden teams are very reliant on hero ball and trying to do things their own way.

3 of the last 4 years

Watching his teams play, you see the lack of effort and preparation. The offense he runs is nonexistent and his lineups and in-game rotations make no sense. Prohm wouldn't receive as much slack if his team played hard and were fundamentally sound but that is not the case since he has taken over...

*** Official South Dakota State vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

I have to disagree. Fred's second year was an example of overachieving compared to where the expectations of the program was.

That was more due to talent than anything else because both of those titles came from underachieving teams.
