    Congrats from a BYU fan!

I had hoped to get on here sooner, but circumstances made that difficult. As a BYU alumni and native mid-Westerner I had looked forward to the Iowa State game as it was the first of the traditional Big 8 teams coming to Provo. I apologize that our team could not give a better showing and given...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

With BYU and UA (assuming) already in the B12, then UU and ASU don't add much. So I'd take B. Ore and UW since they bring more value than either UU or ASU and if they leave it will be part of the ACC breakup and then take better ACC teams.

Texas & Oklahoma leaving in 2024, period.

No. I'm pretty sure they don't (which was part of the admission agreement)

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

If all the schools have a landing spot then this might work. It would take cooperation from the Big10, SEC and Big 12, but if the Big10 and SEC each take 4 that will leave 6 schools on the outside. If the BIg12 could take all six remaining, particularly if the $$ for the now expanded Big12 are...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

I agree on adding some from the P12/10, but it may make sense to just add 2 (UA and CU) and avoid doubling up on the Arizona and Utah markets with ASU and UU and then hold and see what the ACC will do. Ultimately, the broadcasters will largely dictate which P12/10 schools actually add value, but...

No link, just radio chatter with some caveats that it isn't final either

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

So sports talk radio in Salt Lake is saying that the 4 Corner schools have agreed in principle to join the B12. It could be simultaneously true that UW/OU/Cal and Stan (who believe themselves too good for Midwest schools) are trying to work a deal with the ACC

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

More than any other member of the P12 Utah has linked its identify with the P12. There are P12 logos all over their campus.

    Big 12 Expansion (new thread)

The BYU - ASU game brought 1.5M viewers this past weekend which compares very favorably with the USC - WSU and tOSU - Tulsa and UC - UI numbers despite the USC, Ohio State and UC games being in the afternoon and the BYU game not starting until 10:30 EDT. Similar numbers came in for the BYU -...

    Big 12 Expansion (new thread)

BYU to the B12 in 1996 is certainly what was understood from the BYU side. The BYU AD openly discussed at the time that pressure from Texas politicians forced the B12 to take Baylor along with TT, UT and A&M thereby preventing BYU's inclusion.

    Big 12 Expansion (new thread)

Since the hypothetical talk has been USC + Ore + Wash + Colo to BIG that means that at least some believe USC and UCLA are not tied at the hip (obviously Wash and Ore aren't going with their "States"). I have no insight on Cal/Stanford but in this environment I don't see a lot of loyalty and if...

    Big 12 Expansion (new thread)

I agree on quality of football, but two points from my perspective: (1) as collegiate brands UCLA is strong, Stanford is solid and I think ASU is ok (Arizona is trash in football but a very strong BB brand - just like Kansas) and (2) those four additions would further strengthen the B12 as the...

    Big 12 Expansion (new thread)

To me the question is whether USC/Ore are happy with P12 money or if they are willing to jump ship for the much larger $$ in an expanded BIG (basically SEC equivalent $$). If they go then I think all bets on P12 stability are off. I'm not sure that the next tier schools could get equivalent to...

    Big 12 Expansion (new thread)

Here's why I think this may be more true. The B12 has lost its big brands and has solidified with a group of schools that each bring more or less similar value, but that is not true for the P12. USC and Oregon and probably also Washington are A LOT more valuable than the rest and are really...

    Big 12 Expansion (new thread)

It would be fun to have those debates when the BIG actually raids the PAC.

    Big 12 Expansion (new thread)

I agree that Oregon State adds absolutely nothing, but frankly in this scenario Stanford adds more than Utah since BYU and Colorado would deliver the entire intermountain West with or without Utah. I would also take Arizona basketball over Memphis.

    Big 12 Expansion (new thread)

Here is BYU's Men's BB coach talking today about coming into the B12. He could not have been more complimentary or excited. His best comment: "It is TERRIFYING" and he can't wait.

    Big 12 Expansion (new thread)

I don't know exactly, but I would think the general BYU population is probably closer to 85/15 Mormon to non (and it could be higher 90/10). The relatively strict honor code that includes alcohol and pre-marital sex is something that many don't want to deal with so that is part of what makes BYU...

    Big 12 Expansion (new thread)

I grew up in NW Mo but went to BYU for school and have ended up staying out West, so no, I haven't been to the B12 BB tournament, but that looks to change here in a couple of years.
