    *** WBB vs BYU (Sat., 6:00) ***

Fun non-game bit from the game tonight: an officer from ISUPD was the one to run the Cyclone flag around the balcony in the 4th quarter today. Not sure what prompted that, but the crowd sure loved seeing it. He had a big smile on his face the whole way around.

Time for a Real Discussion About Caitlin Clark

Iowa fans have a clear and absolute aversion to accepting that any of their teams might not play up to their potential. It's ALWAYS someone/something else's fault. Always.

Time for a Real Discussion About Caitlin Clark

Not possible when you automatically have to protest every situation that doesn't go Iowa's way to the nearest ref (no matter how ridiculous) as the rest of the team heads to the other end.

WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

So much fun watching Indiana beat the hoks by 17 in Bloomington in front of 17,000+. They held CC to 24 points on 8-26 shooting, 3-16 from deep. Iowa shot 18% from beyond the arc as a team. The LOSS knocks them to third place in the Big 10.

WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Noticing in the current Big 10 standings that there are EIGHT of their teams who are oh-fer against ranked opponents (Illinois was the 9th until their win today). That's 0-37 against the AP top 25 so far this season. Four other Big 10 teams have beaten a ranked opponent just once. Ohio State...

WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Holy hell, through the first three quarters against Baylor, Tech scored 4, 9, and 5 points respectively. BU won 61-32. Tech's starters combined for 18 points, including two who didn't score at all. They turned the ball over 29 times versus making 13 field goals.

On That Note: You Say You Want a Compilation

Another compilation series in the same vein as Modern Rock mentioned above, Living in Oblivion was a great collection of the same type of music in multiple discs, released on EMI. These had about 19-20 tracks on each one. My favorite overall disc in this collection was Living in Oblivion, the...

On That Note: You Say You Want a Compilation

There was a series of CDs that Time Life had put out in the very late 90s called Modern Rock and each 2-disc set contained two years of 1980s modern rock/new wave/80s alternative (80-81, 82-83, etc). I discovered them in used music shops over the years some time ago. While there are a lot of...

    *** WBB vs. #7 Kansas State (Wed., 6:30) ***

That makes TWO wins over top 10 teams this year. Definitely helps the resume' for March. What was most interesting to me: how even the scoring was, only one 3 attempted after regulation, how bad the officials were in general, how dirty some of the Mildcats played, how I wanted to yak from...

What music are you listening to right now?

Jarosz was *not* the student. I will edit that to clarify better. :p I think Jealous Moon is my favorite, but the whole album is worth a listen. Really good.

What music are you listening to right now?

I've been listening to Sarah Jarosz. Had a student employee of mine from a few years ago at ISU sent me a heads up about her new album and how Jarosz has been a favorite of hers for years. I hadn't heard of Jarosz before, but she used to be more of a folk/Americana singer and won four Grammy...
