    I agree with this. Basing expectations on the preseason rankings is difficult because there are so many things that can happen during the course of a season that can lead to under or over performance (injuries, team chemistry, stochastic events, players playing above their expectations, etc.)...

    Success is not always positively linear. This is not unique to ISU. I think your expectations are slightly misplaced. It also does not mean that brighter days are ahead for ISU MBB.

    I am not sure I follow....my expectations are not based on previous decades. I try to base my expectations on ISU's personnel and its perceived team strengths and weaknesses relative to other competition it plays during that particular season.

    Good use of some outliers to make your point. Most analytic-based metrics are pretty good at making sense of who is "good". The most important thing to remember, however, is they are better used as probabilistic measures rather than deterministic ones. Carry on.

    That would be great, but that unguarded screen will open up a guard for a 3 or an open shot. Lard not defending the screen is really not a viable option.

    Do you think the guards defend better when Jacobson is on the floor as opposed to Lard? I think the problem is Lard does not guard the 1-5 PNR as well as Jacobson- which teams have been exposing for a while now. There seems to be some indecisiveness when Lard handles the PNR against guards...
