VA Tech's Blackshear Looking at ISU.

Well that's quite different from your first post. Blackshear would easily be the best grad transfer on the market.

    Hayden Pauls commits

Easily my perennially favorite of CF misspellings.

    Early Thoughts On Next Season?

This is the reaction every year as we get to the Final Four: “My team should should play like this currently successful team ”. And every year it is a different style of team. There is not perfect way to play, but what these teams have in common is that their personnel fits there scheme very...

    Early Thoughts On Next Season?

Agree, he could have definitely improved and he probably did lose his defenders multiple occasions. But my original point was that people act like there should have been a swap in for Wigginton and out for THT. You will gain some offensively, but overall you would have lost more than you gain...

    Early Thoughts On Next Season?

Really. Highest defensive rebounding rate on the team, highest steal rate, got quite a few blocks, and easily the most switchable defender. Sure, could he improve on help rotations and benefit from more coaching? No doubt. But he is was sneakily one of ISUs most valuable and consistent...

    Early Thoughts On Next Season?

Why are so many people negatively acting like next year is a foregone conclusion? So much is still yet to happen (good or bad) before we have any idea what the roster looks like. Also, don’t discount player development and the additional practices over the summer due to playing in Italy...

    Early Thoughts On Next Season?

You don’t just swap Wigginton for THT. Defensively THT was pretty solid and pretty versatile. This is where Wigginton struggled. ISU didn’t struggle down the stretch because of offense, it is because defensively it lost some edge. Wigginton simply wasn’t the same player until very late in the...

    Early Thoughts On Next Season?

Player development and buying into roles will be huge this year. Specifically, for Griffin, Lewis, and Haliburton. What ISU lacks is a player who can create their own shot and consistently break someone down off the dribble. I would argue they lacked that consistent, reliable threat last year too.

    Early Thoughts On Next Season?

Across the CBB landscape players transfer or leave for the professional level- it doesn’t usually mean much about the coach. It is not exclusive to Prohm so I don’t know why we are conflating players not wanting to play for Prohm and leaving for the benefit of their personal careers.

Good MBB article from Travis Hines

Prohm seems to a pretty humble and self-effacing individual. He is more likely to publically find fault with himself rather than say he had all the right answers. Just likely he is prone to take blame and deflect it away from others. This is all to say Prohm has probably made more “good”...

This is why Prohm must go........

And what evidence will that provide?

This is why Prohm must go........

Oh how obvious, let's list losses and cite those as evidence as why someone cannot coach. One realizes that for every coach or every team if you focus on Ls you are going to have some criticisms, right? How about we look across every game, regardless of outcome.

What type of program is Iowa State

Exactly. Which begs the question, why are people surprised or disappointed by the result? I think many fans got lulled into thinking this team was on this positive linear trajectory from the highs of the B12 tourney, while completely forgetting the realities of the seasons low points.

What type of program is Iowa State

What makes you think that my post was only referring to this year? I sniff some defensiveness. To that point, the tribalism on both sides of this debate is exhausting as is the seeming lack of objectivism.

What type of program is Iowa State

Does anyone quite realize how flawed a single elimination tournament is in evaluating a season? I believe too many fans are using 1 game as an indictment on the entire season.

    Scouting the Ohio State matchup

I am pretty sure this doesn’t adjust for opponent strength so it is a bit misleading to interpret at face value.

    Scouting the Ohio State matchup

In the NCAA tourney any game is tough. FWIW, Ohio State's best road/neutral wins are Nebraska and a Nov. 7 game at Cincinnati. Best home wins are Iowa and Penn State. Iowa State would easily be their best win of the year.

    Scouting the Ohio State matchup

I am not interested in reparsing the season or Prohm. I would like to keep the thread on the matchup with Ohio State. My original response, was a reaction to the post that "OSU sucks and ISU does not" (paraphrasing)....which is akin to the banal discussion that occurred when ISU was struggling...
