This is why Prohm must go........

While at a "power 6" school Coach K didn't reach and win in the NCAA tourney until his 4th year, Jay Wright in 3rd year, Izzo 3rd year, and Calipari 1st year. Prohm has reached the NCAA tournament in 3 of 4 years. Under your criteria, this means that you would have been that fan criticizing...

This is why Prohm must go........

In the past couple of years, the 3 wins needed to claim the B12 conference tournament is more of a gauntlet than the 2 wins needed for Sweet 16 birth. First, this makes winning the B12 tournament all the more impressive. Second, it is why ISU fans wish for more NCAA tourney success.

So only wins are fluky if that fits your subjective narrative? OK

This is why Prohm must go........

I’ve seen plenty of great coaches lose in the first round. And comparing teams by tournament seeds or power 5 status is pretty meaningless.

This is why Prohm must go........

Using a single elimination tournament to evaluate an entire season or coach is extremely flawed. Is that outcome frustrating? Yes, but there is a lot of variance within a game and sh!t happens.

This is why Prohm must go........

Steve Prohm is ISU's Chris Beard. FWIW, Prohm is also 5-2 against Beard while at ISU. This year will be important, but far too many "fans" are too reactionary towards Prohm. There is no objective person that thinks Prohm should go like this thread title suggest. It is a complete departure from...

CF STAFF CHAT: Discussing the Iowa loss and season outlook

If you had reading comprehension, I was only using Villanova early 2016 3 point shooting woes as an example that ISU is better than the current 3 pt shooting %. Compared nothing else to ISU and Villanova. Why are you talking about Villanova’s defense and winning championships, again?

INSTANT REACTION: Iowa 84, Iowa State 68

Yes, he appears to be pressing, but it doesn't help when the best player in inherently deferential and reluctant to take control of game when needed.

    Vote for your Lineup Preference

Yes, but it appears scheme was there, but players didn't execute as planned in practice (at least in player and coach postgame interviews). Especially, the zone offense from the high post position was terrible, until Haliburton was forced operate there.

CF STAFF CHAT: Discussing the Iowa loss and season outlook

Some comments and factoids: If Prohm gets this team to the NCAA tourney, it would be a hell of a coaching job. Maybe the Prohm dislike would subside? Unlikely, but if Prohm hasn't proven his worth yet...what will? Morgan's 2005 team finished the season shooting 29.2% from 3. They made it to...

    Vote for your Lineup Preference

I don't see new lineup changes or minutes redistribution making a great difference at this point. The 4 guard lineup with Conditt would get eviscerated defensively and would give up so many points from offensive rebounds. If it had 4 proven 3 pt. shooters....maybe that lineup would make some...

*** Official Southern Miss VS IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

While certainly not promising, I think Bolton and Nixon are just simply off to poor 3 pt shooting starts. I don't expect either of them to be elite, but if together they can average 35% from 3 that would be great....and I think plausible. FWIW, Bolton was 36.1% from 3 with 144 attempts, and...

I think Jacobson has proven that he can score against solid competition. Let's not be too concerned about an off game.

Good points and it is too early to react to "small sample size theater". For reference, the 2018 team was 29/98 (29.6%) in 3 pt FGs after 4 games. Through 4 games, the 2019 team is 28/103 (27.2%) 3 pt FGs. ISU has capable shooters. It will just take some time before players figure out roles...

INSIDER: What I'm hearing on the scrimmage vs. Wisconsin

It is difficult (if not impossible) to objectively compare teams with varied schedule strength or unbalanced schedules. There are plenty of 12 loss teams that are better than teams with just a couple losses by the end of the season.

Give me your most unpopular take about Iowa State

    1) Even as an undergrad, ISU/Ames was the most fun when there were the least amount of students around (fall/winter/spring breaks and summer term) 2) Engineering majors think they have the most important major and profession...more simply they lack perspective and humility (this is not...

Give me your most unpopular take about Iowa State

Depending on what ranking you use ISU College of Engineering is not in the top 10%. For 2019, US News and World Report ranks ISU #41 of 220 schools. If an ISU sports team does not finish the year in the top 25, do they have much national relevance?
