    Cyclone FB: Top 20 QB

I will concede that Oberg should probably be higher on my list; however, that is just not true what you said about the defenses each played with. Just taking a simplistic look at those eras using points allowed per game proves that ... Alex Espinoza (84-86) ... 825 points allowed / 33 games...

6 picks in one game vs. Colorado certainly doesn't help that ratio :twitcy:

    Cyclone FB: Top 20 QB

i did consider professional careers, but more than anything on the guys that I saw play I went with who I thought was a better player - if I had a team who would I want to be under center Sage > Meyer > Arnaud > Oberg

Cyclone FB: Top 30 RB of All Time

I'm sooooo looking forward to this one, and the subsequent arrows being shot my way :twitcy:

Cyclone FB: Top 30 RB of All Time

... or Todd Blythe (see previous list arguments regarding his ridiculous numbers) Hicks was clearly the 3rd option at the goal line behind the fullback dive (Kock) and the corner fade (Blythe)

Cyclone FB: Top 30 RB of All Time

There was nothing wrong with our offense in Mac's first two seasons (yes, I admit we could have used a better throwing quarterback) but we just didn't have any athletes on defense. We couldn't stop anyone.

Cyclone FB: Top 30 RB of All Time

I must admit that Bo Williams wasn't even on my list of consideration that went about 75 deep. I even considered these guys ... Jahi "Kid" Arnold Greg Coleman Jeremiah Schwartz James O'Neal Mike Tyson Brian Thompson
  8. The Mook

Cyclone FB: Top 30 RB of All Time

We must have done either 1) a better job at ranking the RBs, or 2) it is much more clear than the WR list ... not as much debate today I will strive to be more controversial with my next list LOL
  9. The Mook

Cyclone FB: Top 30 RB of All Time

Fair enough ... I still don't think there is any shame in being number 5 on this list. It was very telling to me that Kirk and I had the exact same top 5. We are doing these lists mutually exclusive
  10. The Mook

Cyclone FB: Top 30 RB of All Time

I think you've greatly shorted the competition LOL especially USC (3 additional Heisman Trophy winners) ... Texas-Benson, Williams, Charles, EARL CAMPBELL Michigan-Perry, Thomas, Biakabatuka, TOM HARMON USC-Bush, Allen, MIKE GARRETT, OJ SIMPSON, CHARLES WHITE

Cyclone FB: Top 30 RB of All Time

I think you can somewhat hang Ws and Ls on quarterbacks, kind of like starting pitchers, at least in modern football ... I don't think that goes for running backs. Nonetheless, I mentioned in my comments that I could have put Dexter as high as #2
  12. The Mook

Cyclone FB: Top 40 WR All Time

There is no doubt in my mind that the game has dramatically changed, even in just the past 15 years, and it is much easier now to accumulate numbers in the passing game.

Cyclone FB: Top 40 WR All Time

All very good points ... but my question to you is how many times was Blythe named All-American? Not just the freshman team by one publication, but a real All-American. Henderson was twice All-American, twice first team All-Conference and didn't play a 4th year as Blythe did. Blythe was...

Cyclone FB: Top 40 WR All Time

Good point, but I only have them 2 spots apart (29 and 31, basically the same) and Kirk has Williams at 22 and Lenz at 33.
  15. The Mook

Cyclone FB: Top 40 WR All Time

I wish I could watch all of those guys from the 70s and before so I could use my own eye test to really distinguish between them. I've heard others sing similar praise for Otto Stowe like you have for Ike. On my list, most of the top 9 are interchangable and I had them in many different...
  16. The Mook

Cyclone FB: Top 40 WR All Time

I go back further than Kirk, but even I have to start relying on the numbers in the 70s and before. I'm glad they (Hardee and Hixon) both made each of our lists.
  17. The Mook

Cyclone FB: Top 40 WR All Time

I agree. Groce was a damn good football player. Kirk has him at 10 and I have him at 14. I don't think he could get much higher.
  18. The Mook

Cyclone FB: Top 40 WR All Time

NO ONE is an idiot in matters of opinion ... support your point of view (or be a child and name call for no reason)
  19. The Mook

Cyclone FB: Top 40 WR All Time

I could not agree more! I also couldn't keep him out of my top 5 based on his numbers being so far ahead of the rest. I did not consider him above #3 and easily could have slotted him in the bottom half of the top ten.

Cyclone FB: Top 40 WR All Time

No doubt. It is unfortunate that video of these legends is not readily available.
