    The new (old) Shlitz recipe is fantastic! Hands down one of the best bang for your buck american lagers out there. As far as worst beer, I would go with that bud light clamato crap.

    Don't do the Mr. Beer thing. Like others have said there are some great homebrew shops around here, including Beer Crazy in Urbandale. There are also plenty of resources on the web. If you want a DVD to get started I would go with Basic Brewing? : Home Brewing Beer Podcast and DVD - Welcome...

    Strong beer

    Brought a six pack of 120 minute IPA up to the check out before I realized that it was 10 dollars PER bottle. Good stuff, not as good as other DFH beers though.

    You bring up a good point. I think they could put out something pretty good too. Their specialty beers are normally pretty solid. It is there year round beers that are just mediocre.

    That is my favorite German Brauerei. I'd recommend that too. Although, if you want to bring an Oktoberfest, I would recommend Ayinger or Paulaner.
