    Then explain it for rest of the class, please. For those of us that have watched the world cup, offsides seems to be a dubious call at best. I've watched enough of the games where I can pick it out when it happens, but even then only when it's blatantly obvious.

    Right, but the concept is essentially the same. I think a big difference with soccer is that the last offensive player can't get behind the last defender until after the ball is passed to him, wheras in hockey nobody can cross that line until the puck does.

    That's pretty much what it is, except that the blue line (in this case) is the last defensive player.

    I don't see many teams getting out to a 14-0 lead against Iowa next season, and Michigan got their first points off a Stanzi pick - on the first play of the game.

    They were down by four against MSU with 1:30 to go and only one timeout. Down 10-0 against PSU at the end of the first quarter, down 10-3 at Wisconsin at halftime, they trailed UNI in the fourth quarter, they were down 7-0 to Michigan before people found their seats, I believe Arizona had a 7-0...

    I don't really get the off-side rule either, but the best way I've heard it described is that if an offensive player were just allowed to stay in the attacking zone, it would be the same as standing under the basket while everyone else plays defense.

    Of course they will. They'll hear all week about how they have no shot to win that game, and Rhoads is a good coach and will get his team to feed off of that. That being said, emotion will only get you so far.

    To say that the Iowa student section throws urine filled ballons at the opposing team. Quite a feat, considering the visiting teams tunnel and sideline is on the opposite side of the field.
