There's a better than average chance we won't play Iowa as much should the Big 10 expand considerably. They already get mocked if we beat them in football and hoops is just one game of 30--minimal impact. Be very afraid that Iowa will not play us every year in football should the Big 10 go to...
The added revenue will far, far outpace the added expense.
If you think the Big 10 wants us you are living in a dream world. Plain and simple!
And no, "no one here" knows whats actually going on. We are talking about what WOULD happen if certain things occurred. And what would happen isn't...
Iowa is already in so they don't have to.
Plus, Iowa's fanatical fan follow does make them desirable. It's how they got in a BCS football game last year and that meant millions to the Big 10.
I would guess most HS kids in Iowa have little idea who Fred Hoiberg is. They were barely born when he played at ISU and he had a rather non-descript, journeyman career in the NBA.
His name will still carry some weight but not nearly to the level the OP suggests.
He just hired a guy to coach a major college basketball program who has basically never coached basketball before in his life.
I think I'm even more convinced that Pollard is a clown.
There is "no question"? How do you figure? FH was a star at ISU before most recruits were born and then had a journeyman-like NBA career. I would guess recruits would have almost no idea who Fred Hoiberg is.
Great. He loves the school. Awesome. I don't think TF or LE loved the school nearly as much as Fred but they were still great coaches here. That's just not a criteria I was looking for in a head coach.
To call this hire a gamble is an understatement. I love FH like CRAZY but I"m very...
"Dear recruit: I've developed multiple high school basketball players into NBA level talent. Along the way, my teams have experienced rich success at the conference and NCAA levels. We've done a lot of winning--won conference titles and NCAA championships. You want to play in college, win...
Good luck to Coach Nurse in recruiting with just a 2 year contract. It's a terrible idea. Terrible.
Creighton isn't dumb enough to hire Mac. It's just that simple. His tenure at ISU has been a train wreck and they will get someone better. "Columns" may have brought him up but those are...
Any idiot could have written that article. It shared no real information beyond common sense. Might not make it in Chicago until the end of his contract, which has 4 more seasons on it? Really? No way. Might look at trading him? Really? No way.
Don't be surprised to see him settle in at...
Maybe if KJ would have given him an ACTUAL suspension after his last dust up with alcohol and fighting with police officers he would have thought a little harder about this. I like KJ--a lot--but not suspending Andrew after what happened last year was a mistake. KJ is pretty new to this and...
Whether the kids wrestled or not, the program has taken a clean step back under Penrith's watch. It's underachieving. Thus, after 10 years on the job, Dannen made a change. That's the bottom line.
The problem with this theory is that though some of the redshirts were as good or better than the starters, not a one of them would have qualified for the NCAA tourney. It's a weak and silly argument.
Read my post a little closer. Did I not say selling alcohol was lucrative? Again, cover charges are damn near pure profit. The marginal costs of selling alcohol are higher. That's all I stated in my post.
