I started the thread. I think I know what it's about, chief. I'm not being impatient. I think he should get 4-5 years, maybe more, unless the bottom TOTALLY falls out of this thing. I highly doubt that will happen. I just disagree that we can call him a "good coach" right now. -

Yeah I saw a lot of games last year. I saw us not beat anyone. Our best win was over a team that beat themselves. We shouldn't have been in a bowl game. And in that game we beat a terrible Minnesota team that as it turns out was months away from canning their coach. I don't know that we... -

Let me make it clear--I do not want him fired. I want nothing of the sort. A lot of our fans seem to think he's proven to be a good coach. I can't say I agree. The jury is still very out. -

This is the kind of stuff I'm getting at. Loving ISU and wanting to be the coach hardly makes one a good coach. I love ISU and want to be the coach but it doesn't make me a better coach than Gene Chizik--someone who does neither. We had better hope CPR has a Ferentz-ian ability to develop... -

That does not automatically make him a good coach. I like CPR a lot. I like his mentality and his attitute. I also like his passion. However, it is almost universally accepted that he is a "good" football coach. I'm not sure. That said, "good" is a relative term. -

Unfortunately I think you laid out the absolute best case and most optimistic scenario, crooksie_26. You have to remember KJ's job is to stay positive and like most coaches he blows a lot of smoke. It's not difficult to push those kids to ISU over Iowa when Iowa didn't offer them. Well, Barkema did have a greyshirt offer from Iowa, I believe. What the coach said is straight up hyperbole. Not a huge deal. Also, several of the kids in the other post didn't have Iowa offers, either... -

I believe I addressed this earlier. We won 2 games in 2008 with Chiz but brought everyone back in 2009 and Rhodes did win 6 in the regular season. We didn't beat anyone to win those 6, then beat an terrible Minnesota team by a whopping point in a bowl. Does this make him a "good coach"? I...
