Iowa's first "Groupon": $10 gets you $25 at Royal Mile

Got my two!:jiggy: Really hope this catches on in the Metro. My coworkers from out of state were giddy when they finally saw Des Moines on there today. Apparently it's a big deal.

ESPN 30 for 30: Once Brothers

Flipping through and got hooked. Very well done. Highly recommended to all the DVRers out there. Looks like it's also on ESPN2 tomorrow evening.

I hate to do it: dish vs. cable

Mediacom is the cheaper and better option for what I want, basic HD channels and internet. Their customer service is terrible, no denying that, but the product is not bad for what you pay. Never thought I'd say this two years ago, but I am a completely satisfied Mediacom customer and would not...

MBB Schedule updated with TV and Times

Creighton tips during Vikes-Packers. Also not a fan of the 8 pm weekday games. Okay I'm done complaining.

Predictions: Who will beat Iowa this year?

Losses: OSU, AZ, UW I think they blow NW out this year and will handle Denard Robinson as well as any team all year.

Would you root for Iowa in a national championship game?

I would not root for Iowa in a national title game. For those of us living in Iowa, not one single week in the remainder of our lives would be void of a reminder of that day. In other words, our quality of life as ISU fans would go down. No thanks. Anything short of that, I don't really care...

    Reception in IC..

Beware of Kirkwood dropouts posing as UI students. They go to extremes to degrade everything Cyclone because of the whole insecurity thing. In 2006 there were lots of college-aged kids seated near the ISU section going out of their way to **** on the ISU fans' experience. Mocking every ISU...

    Reception in IC..

Went in 2006 and it was worse than expected. Vowed to watch to it from home from that point on. Before the game wasn't bad. Just a few competitive taunts that were in fairly good taste. After the game was a different story. Had to walk, alone, two miles from Kinnick to where I was staying. It...

    Prediction Thread

If AA does not turn it over once we are in it at the end. Unfortunately, I'm putting his over/under at two which will simply not get it done. Iowa 27 ISU 10

    Chizik vs GMac

GMac is the correct answer. Unless a small miracle occurs and we land the postseason in hoops this year. Besides the famous phrase "firmly entrenched" their exits were equally selfish and classless IMO. The only difference being we were as relieved as Greg when he found another job.

12.5 miles, 21 minutes. Wish it was less sometimes but can't really complain.

    Iowa State Garden Stones

Did you catch how much? I was there about a month ago and saw one I was sure I was buying. Until, that is, I walked over, picked it up and saw it was priced at $139! About dropped it. Maybe that's market value on those things, I wouldn't know, but it seems awfully steep for a painted rock.

    National Guard Sendoff Ceremonies Scheduled

Outstanding. Thank you for continuing to serve. You will have to keep us updated throughout the training phase and once you get settled on the other side of the globe. Hopefully they will let you go home for a couple weeks so you can get some much needed R and R. Maybe even a chance to swing...

    Cityview Brewfest

It was a good time but could be better IMO. They have the entire concourse but instead they pack all vendors into one half of one side. It's very crowded and it doesn't have to be if they spread people out a little more. Lines weren't terribly long and the beer was tasty but moving around...

    National Guard Sendoff Ceremonies Scheduled

A little under half of the Iowa Army National Guard will be in Afghanistan for this deployment. Definitely enough. The preliminary numbers were closer to 3,500 so maybe someone finally stepped in a said "maybe we're going a little overboard here". Great advice, cyeah. If you are fortunate...

    National Guard Sendoff Ceremonies Scheduled

I was a member of A Btry 1/194 FA. About 80% of the guys I deployed with two years ago are going again. So much for the four or five year rule. Of course they are taking it in stride as honorable soldiers would, but the burden of three or four 12-18 month deployments in an eight year period...

    National Guard Sendoff Ceremonies Scheduled

As you all know, the Iowa National Guard is about to leave on a historic, 2800 member deployment to Afghanistan. All units will be departing Iowa within the next month for a duration of one year. For many of the soldiers and their families this will be the most demanding and stressful deployment...

    Ledges State Park?

I will have to check some of these out, thanks. We are vacationing Minnesota this year as we are starting to become convinced nowhere in Iowa holds a candle to the average park up there. Desperately looking for some Iowa parks with scenery that are worth the two or three hours of travel to get...
