Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

Not to stereotype universities, but the other names on this list makes me think that Fran is starting to throw around some cash.

    Nah. The more things change…

Has anyone purchased a new vehicle lately, the prices are off the wall.

Just like the government would never force you to stop using gas ranges, or gas furnaces, or incandescent light bulbs. It would be a ridiculous overreach! There are some breakthroughs still needed regarding range vs change time and cold-weather efficiency before EVs are practical in the middle...

anyone heard how J T Rock is doing this fall

I think NIL has really changed the math about red-shirting again, too. If Rock is a one-and-some type, then you absolutely play him garbage minutes this year, even (or especially) if he’s not ready. But if there’s a chance that he’s a G-leaguer, maybe you think twice in case he might want the...

anyone heard how J T Rock is doing this fall

Nope. There’s been discussion around it, but once you check in, the (non-medical) redshirt is gone. Edit: it looks like they changed it last year. My bad. But it’s 4 games for basketball, too.

anyone heard how J T Rock is doing this fall

It’s early, but I would assume the lack of news/noise tells everything you need to know. Not that this is a bad thing. I would continue to assume that he’s going to spend a ton of time in the weight room and will be ready to hit the ground running next fall.

KU reportedly hiring Buffalo's Leipold (not Monken)

Yes. But he got to 6 faster than Mangino did. I’m not saying he’s the second coming of Knute Rockne, just that it’s an impressive turnaround, and also Mangino is a turd.

KU reportedly hiring Buffalo's Leipold (not Monken)

Mangino went 5-19 in conference in his first 3 years. Leipold is already 6-15 and doesn’t have the advantage of four non-cons or avoiding the Big 12 South powers. Both beat up on the weaker teams, it, especially given the state of KU football when he took over, Leipold’s start is impressive.

KU reportedly hiring Buffalo's Leipold (not Monken)

And twice the degree of difficulty. Mangino had 5 conference wins in his first 3 years, and finished 6, 4(t), and 5(t) in the Big 12 NORTH.

Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

Very real chance that he’ll finish his career with over 125 starts and 145 games player. Still one more year of Covid bonus-eligibility plus NIL, but hopefully there will be fewer and fewer 7-year players as we go forward.

    ISU Gambling Megathread

Betting on (or against) your own team is an issue of game integrity, and, as others have stated, an absolute no-brainer for a lifetime NCAA ban. But, from an NCAA perspective, penalties shouldn’t be different if an athlete from another sport bet on an ISU basketball game, an NCAA bad game, an...

    ISU Gambling Megathread

I don’t like the conflation of protecting the integrity of the game and the “Integrity” of sports betting. Insider information is not the concern of the government or the NCAA, it is the concern of casinos and bookies. They have controls in place to move lines and, if it’s egregious, limit or...

    ISU Gambling Megathread

I think that a good old fashioned cluster is more likely than maliciousness. DCI agent gets a hot tip and is excited to prove themselves. Do the investigation, possibly violating due process, hand off to county attorneys. Story County office, in particular, REALLY goes for it, and possibly...

Yes. But also good. Let it be an NCAA issue, not a criminal one.

CW Pod (on IE) with Dan McCarney

I don’t think it’s fair to have the discussion about whether or not JP was right to move on (and I think he was) while eliding the fact that Mac was actively looking for a better job post-Insight. It’s going to take someone with a better memory to confirm the year and the job, but he was...

@ChrisMWilliams on the intro, your mic is waaaay over-compressed, leading to the distorted/megaphone vocal sound, room noise/reverb, and loud breaths. Guessing the gain between the mic and the PC is too high, happy to help troubleshoot in the unlikely event that you and the production team can’t...
