Fertilizing my lawn for initial spring application

Agree on weeds in town, but we definitely see resistance with fungus in lawns.

Fertilizing my lawn for initial spring application

You sure about that? Responsible applicators rotate modes of action, yet we still have a growing problem. Unless you're a farmer or a golf course superintendent, the chances you've applied more applications of herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, plant growth regulators, biostimulants...

Fertilizing my lawn for initial spring application

You point out what is a growing problem from routine herbicide use, in that we've created highly resistant weeds. Perhaps the future is AI robot overlords with lasers zapping weeds.

Fertilizing my lawn for initial spring application

I really don't like using insecticides or fungicides. Last resort. Most homeowners have little limited use for glyphosate. It's used for driveway weeds and if you want to kill off an entire area for some reason. It's from our food supply.

Fertilizing my lawn for initial spring application

With it being so hot, if you do fertilize, go like half the bag rate or use a biosolids or organic option. Grass isn't very active right now, so pushing growth can cause problems. Also, the synthetic fertilizer is just a nitrogen salts that soak up water and can dry out soil. If you do...

Fertilizing my lawn for initial spring application

Most people overlook cultural practices when managing weeds. Grass is adapted to recover quickly after being grazed. Mowing frequently is a hack to take advantage of this property in grass. Must plants don't do to well when you cut the tops off. Grass is made for that. Mowing frequently...

Fertilizing my lawn for initial spring application

You don't really need to wait 1 month after spraying most weed killer to seed. I'm in the same area and usually seed first two weeks of September but all of September is usually good. Water a fair amount in late August to get everything growing again and spray on a cooler day or in the...

Fertilizing my lawn for initial spring application

Not long term. You can fertilize with products that aren't synthetic chemical fertilizer. Biosolids, manures, alfalfa pellets are a few options. Once you get a lawn weed free you can maintain it, if it's less than 1000 sq ft with mechanical methods (pulling weeds). A lawn is basically a...

Fertilizing my lawn for initial spring application

Is it Gordon's T-zone or Speed zone? Both great products, but yes cooler weather is much safer as they can be hard on the grass too. Pay attention to the label rate and don't exceed it.

Fertilizing my lawn for initial spring application

Letting a lawn go dormant is a fine strategy. It needs enough water to keep the crowns alive but not much unless we get a big drought. You can wake it back up in the Fall in September by just watering heavy for 1 week if you don't get a bunch of rain then.

Nah. It doesn't matter who the issuer is. Backed by or not backed. The fact that currency is typically issued by governments and declared legal tender is irrelevant to my point. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_money

    What's growing? The garden thread.

Any kind of bean. Field peas like black eyed peas. Zucchini and yellow squash are fine to plant but need plenty of water. Sweet corn is still fine. You can still plant tomatoes, but they might not do phenomenal, but if they get through the summer you usually get a good Fall harvest. Look at...

I don't hate Bitcoin fyi. I've owned a bit with entry around 12k ,and sold some around 36k and the rest at 59k. I've been following it since it was well under $10. It's still fiat, just issued by a computer algorithm. Is that better than the Fed system? Do I think an automated system based...

Fear? It depends on what it is. On the Japan issue, they aren't the reserve currency so they have a bit more slack than the US. What's changed is that if they can't hold the peg, they aren't just printing to keep their head above water. If rates rise even a little bit, they have to print...
