Beebe Doesn't Anticipate Big 12 Changing Name

I'm not allowed to give you anymore rep, but I wanted to let you know that it wasn't my intention to deceive. It was just lazy research on my part. Thanks for picking up my slack. My point still stands that it is my opinion that the BigXII wouldn't lose much brand identity by changing its...

Beebe Doesn't Anticipate Big 12 Changing Name

Yes, because the B1GT2N was formed in 1896. A full 100 years before the BigXII. That is brand identity.

Beebe Doesn't Anticipate Big 12 Changing Name

According to everything I've read, we aren't getting two more schools. I agree that a 10 team conference called the BigXII is dumb. The B1GT2N and it's "branding" has been around forever. The BigXII was created in 1996. We haven't created THAT much brand identity that a name change would...

    Countrywide Football ?

Why do you assume our football IQ would be better than say Texas who lives and breathes football year-round? Texas is a bad example as you can say that we would be #2, but I don't really know why Iowa would be considered a hotbed for football knowledge. I'm with you on hard-working, I would...

Luck said to be returning to Stanford

Just read something that I thought was a great take on the 'situation': "The only person Andrew Luck has to make happy is himself, and we just learned what makes him happy. It's not money. I respect his decision." - Pat Forde ESPN.com

Luck said to be returning to Stanford

You are right, Locker's decision was bad - and I thought it was at the time. However, in all the cases of kids returning to school/going early to the NFL there are a TON of factors involved. Locker's family was able to afford for him to go back to school. He enjoyed school very much and will...

Luck said to be returning to Stanford

I'm not sure if you are trying to argue my point, or prove it? Sam Bradford injured his shoulder (more important to a QB than a knee) twice last season and was still the #1 pick. I'm not sure an injury will prevent Luck from going number one unless he actually loses a limb.

    Countrywide Football ?

Not very well. Here is a link to the 2009 Rivals Top 100 and where they are from: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/ncaa/specials/recruiting/2009/rival.html And here is a link with a list of Iowa recruits over 2004-2008. State of Iowa Recruiting 2004-08 - Google Maps I would assume...

Luck said to be returning to Stanford

Just like Sam Bradford did? I think it actually makes a ton of sense for him to go back this year. 1) As a QB he isn't likely to shorten the length of his career like say a RB or LB. 2) The NFL's labor situation and impending lock out. Why would he go to the NFL and sit on the sidelines when...

New basketball walk-on (TE Drew Mitchell) information

Re: New basketball walk-on information I think it is a pretty safe bet that 243 was his FB weight and he is now in the 220's somewhere.

Game @ UCONN may have just got easier next year

I haven't seen that this is a done deal. Edsall got an interview, as did Leach, and the school plans to announce the hire on Monday. Link: Tracking the Terps: Maryland to name coach Monday; Edsall to interview - Maryland Terps: Basketball, football schedule, news and games from reporter...

***Official: ISU @ Virginia (game) day thread***

It is usually easier for the home team to dictate tempo. It is also usually easier for the slow team to slow down the running team than it is for the running team to force the slow team to run. I know that is a confusing sentence, but in summery; I think we will have to win a game in the 60's...

Why Pinkel is NOT an elite coach...

Because it is an exhibition football game made to sell tickets, get fans to buy hotel rooms and eat at restaurants in the typically warm weather city they are held in. Also, Mizzou earn the right to play in the bowl game. Their coaches MAY have placed a higher priority on recruiting for next...

Our BB schedule is a disgrace

I believe you mean Illinois State, not Iowa State, but you should maybe clarify on a board that automatically underlines any ISU if you scroll over it and reads: Iowa State

Our BB schedule is a disgrace

So it is our fault that Creighton, UNI, Iowa, Drake, Virginia, and Cal are having down seasons? Find me another school that doesn't schedule cupcakes over finals week? Also, we host a "Cyclone Challenge" type tourney every year with a couple cupcakes. This year's tourney included Creighton...

Chances of being 14-2 going into KU game?

Unless Nebraska loses to North Dakota or Savannah State and/or we absolutely CRUSH Virginia, they will likely be favored by 5 in that game. You are thinking Nebraska is the Nebraska of old while multiple people in this thread have pointed out to you that they are a much improved team this...
