TV ratings down for 4 of 5 BCS games

    1) Cotton bowl isn't a BCS Bowl 2) The BCS Bowls were spread out solely for the purpose of helping the TV ratings and thus making more advertising money. It's tough to watch 12 games on New Year's Day so they moved a bunch of games off that day. Not saying I agree with that decision, but...

We need to get this kid!!

The reporter who put the story together acts like he has never seen anyone dibble two basketballs before. He gets almost as excited as the Double Rainbow guy.

Cam Newton and his dear old Daddy...

While I agree with you that Cecil is probably not to be trusted, my interpretation of "mutually agreed upon that Cecil was not to attend the game" meant that Auburn was not going to let him ride on the "families" plane or give him a ticket. I don't think Auburn or the NCAA has the power to...

    Up Next: Kansas/Predictions

Kansas @ Iowa State over the last 5 years: 2010 - 84-61 2009 - 82-67 2008 - 75-64 2007 - 68-64 (OT) 2006 - 95-85 I think we are playing more entertaining basketball than we have been over the last 5 years, but as someone stated before "You gotta have the horses!" My 2011 prediction: KU 73 -...

TV ratings down for 4 of 5 BCS games

No doubt the overall numbers have taken a hit by moving the games from free channels to cable. However, I have read, somewhere?, that ESPN hit numbers for the bowls that rival any other numbers ever for cable programming (sorry - I don't have a link which means it could be wrong/hearsay)...

    Michigan Football

Usually I'm not a fan of 1000 different threads on the same topic, but I thought this was different from Les Miles' decision to stay at LSU. Michigan has just hired Brady Hoke to be their Head Football Coach. Also, Michigan officially was the attendance leader for football this past year...

compare these headlines, USAToday vs. ESPN

Not saying I necessarily believe this, but you asked for incentive to spin and here is what I came up with: CBSSports - owns the rights to many SEC football games. From a marketing and advertising standpoint SEC football fans are similar to NASCAR fans in the sense that they are (from the...

    Jim Harbaugh to 49ers

What better job is out there? There are only 32 NFL head coaching jobs available and the 49ers are lined up with some good young talent on O and a good D. They have a bunch of picks in the 2011 draft and they are in possibly the easiest conference ever. The only thing, granted it is a BIG...

NFL: McDaniels Interviewing for Vikes OC

I thought the same thing, but unfortunately the Vikings traded their 3rd round pick for Moss. I would be surprised if the Broncos actually got a 2nd round pick in return for Orton, but if so !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Cubs close to getting Garza?

Matt Murton's a good add-on to a trade if all you are looking for is injury relief. He is in no way an above average MLB player and I don't think he ever has been. Matt Murton Statistics and History - Baseball-Reference.com

Who's pumped for the BCS Championship Game?

I admit that I didn't do reasearch and was just going on my perception of Auburn. I always thought they were a good team/program but never viewed them as a "power". My personal perception will be difficult to change, but you proved me wrong and enlightened everyone else who might have trouble...

    Cubs close to getting Garza?

Seeing as young SS talent is almost as rare as young C talent, I would have been inclined to hold onto Lee and if he is as good as advertised you could use him to get something better than a solid innings eating #3 SP. Using him as part of a package to get what they got was a mismanagement of...

    Cubs close to getting Garza?

When was the last time players to be named later were exciting prospects? You are right, it is possible that the Cubs will get something decent in return, but I'm skeptical that the Rays will let a solid PTNL/minor leaguer actually leave their system.

    Cubs close to getting Garza?

I think they gave up too much. Garza isn't an elite talent. He will look better than he is coming from the AL to the NL and feasting on the Pirates/Astros, but the Cubs are mortgaging the future to semi-compete in the next 3 years. This surprises me because the rest of the Cubs team isn't...

Who's pumped for the BCS Championship Game?

I think people were more blatant about it in the 70s & 80s. OU admitted to buying Marcus Dupree's mom a trailer. SMU was vary obviously cheating and the NCAA laid down the hammer on them - but it took a couple years. You just had less media coverage than today with twitter, non-stop espn, etc...

Who's pumped for the BCS Championship Game?

I know that this happens in Denver (at least for the NFL network game when I was there) and in Minnesota (the recent game played at UofM was on an OTA channel) as well. Not sure about the other 29 teams, but I would assume it is a fairly common practice.

    Countrywide Football ?

Interesting twist. As someone stated before the southern states would likely have a excess of WR, RB, DB and you might see them choose to move to Iowa for their senior years of high-school.
