Iowa State Center Redevelopment: Power & Light 2.0???

There are numerous conventions at Schemen, concerts at Hilton, shows at Stephens... and this could lure new events to those venues. There are also three huge dorm towers and a thriving Greek community within two blocks who would frequent businesses (if they're the correct businesses) often due...

Iowa State Center Redevelopment: Power & Light 2.0???

With a bunch of major dorms and greek life right there, having establishments like a BWWs even or any establishment allowing minors until 9 could be quite profitable. The university is right across the street practically and the 23 bus is super convenient.

Iowa State Center Redevelopment: Power & Light 2.0???

My guess is that it would need to be a venture between the City/University/Athletics/Private Developer. The hurdle would be getting them all to play nicely... which there isn't much history showing they'd be willing to do that.

Iowa State Center Redevelopment: Power & Light 2.0???

Yeah it doesn't have to be as grand as a P&L, but even one stand-alone bar and a Cy's Locker Room there that's open during non gamedays would be neat.

Iowa State Center Redevelopment: Power & Light 2.0???

The Iowa State Center plan (public space near Hilton) has no traction and it seems some different visioning is needed. Cities like Lincoln (and KC on a bigger scale) have built public entertainment spaces near sports venues with a lot of success, despite having different sized cities and...

After this season, I've learned how important it is to have QB depth. Hope he can get it!

    $75 million football/athletics facility

Its time to put the Jake and Olsen buildings to rest. They have served us well but are outdated and out of place. If we're going to spend $75mil, lets do it right and not put together a cobbled up mess for the sake of saving two mediocre (at best) facilities. Cable tv money is not a finite good...

    Creighton lighting it up

I really hated his tenure in Ames. The passion just wasn't there. I'm happy to say the situation worked out for both Iowa State and Creighton, since he's a genuine person who deserves well.

Did anyone catch the random Hawkeye fan during the Boise St game?

She picked a good sporting event to attend! She also apparently got the desired reaction as well, buying up more real estate in some of you posters' heads.

AM590 Omaha suggesting Pollard as next Nebraska AD

Can't think he'd actually do that, right? That would be a thankless job as AD there as they grasp onto what their identity is in college athletics.

Iowa's 10 worst places to live

Council Bluffs and Sioux City's problem is that they are so far west that they don't feel part of the rest of the state, but don't feel part of the states they are adjacent to either. CB has a horrible reputation in the Omaha area (which subsequently dampens Omaha's impression of all of Iowa)...

Iowa's 10 worst places to live

I live in Council Bluffs now (by choice even--proximity to Downtown Omaha) and I wouldn't have made that choice had it actually been the worst place to live in Iowa.
