Two things...
1) Des Moines is closer to Ames than IC...ISU needs to get fans to games from DM...the biggest city in Iowa and an easy drive to Ames.
2) Did you miss some of the ISU / iowa games in Ames in the mid 80s or just forget them because the outcomes were painful. The bottom line is...
I agree. I don't know where all of this elitist, arrogant, condescending attitude about the only way to be a true die-hard fan is to have graduated from ISU comes from.
I graduated from ISU and I would like to see us have a very large bandwagon of fans that are non-graduates. That would be...
This is ridiculous. The stadium, video screen, and sound system do not create the electric atmosphere.
An electric atmosphere is created by the team, competitive opposition, the fans, and gameday traditions that cannot be missed.
Generally, I agree with the highlighted portion.
However, KU has been good because they have had the right coaches (ie: top quality coaches) over the last couple of decades....just a point of clarification.
But the general point of program consistency coming from having quality coaches is...
I know that Schafer was a transfer from Illinois (University of...not a JUCO) and that Cato was a transfer from South Alabama...again not a JUCO.
And I am pretty certain (but could be wrong) that Willoughby was a transfer from UNO...once again not a JUCO.
The reality (and sad thing) is that most of the people on this site blindly agree with everything our coach does...no matter his prior experience. Just look at McDermott...we still had a sizable number of people (over 50% by most polls as I recall) that were 100% on board with everything he was...
Actually, yes, I have met him.
I'm making no assumptions...he just disappeared without telling anyone anything in Denver...I don't care what the "situation" was...that is totally unacceptable behavior.
Guys stuck at the JUCO level that don't have any other options often tell people they...
Ya think?!?!
He basically went AWOL during the middle of his last season at Denver...just disappeared without notifying anyone as I recall. They later called it a "leave of absence" but they ended up replacing him because, frankly, it appeared to everyone that he just was not very stable...
You are referencing VI.3 that I mentioned earlier...correct?
"The parties acknowledge that Hoiberg was recruited as head Men's Basketball coach with the understanding that University does not intend to increase its academic admissibility and/or eligibility standards beyond the academic...
Yeah, and a lot of people leave and don't end up moving back as well...especially if they move south and learn that the winters in Iowa absolutely suck. DM and central Iowa are fine places but there are many other fine places as well...ones where you don't freeze your hind end off for months on...
A. I didn't realize this was exclusively of his doing.
and
B. I'll wait to pass judgment until I see them suit up for the Cyclones against Big 12 caliber competition.
I certainly had concerns about the Hoiberg hire...I still do...but I have certainly warmed to it because of his actions since he was given the position a few months ago. He appears to have the sense of urgency (ie: win and win now) that we need to have in the program. He also made a very solid...
No one in this thread specifically...but I am referring to the overall general sense of euphoria that existed (and still exists) when Hoiberg was hired.
Oh, pardon me, I didn't know that speculation was illegal on this site.
I never accused anyone (staff or administration) of anything unsavory. My ire is typically (and in this case) pointed at the many posters on this site that talk out of both sides of their mouths...ie: Hoiberg is a perfect...
