Concert talk: Are you middle aged and missed the Warped Tour?

Was your Goldfinger show Dotfest II at the Ankeny Airfield? Everclear, Marcy Playground, Fastball and some wackos in red jumpsuits calling themselves Slipknot opened the whole show. That was the summer before my sophomore year of college.

Tuesday OT: a business from your childhood that is extinct

The one on 169 is still there. I guarantee it looks exactly the same no matter how many years ago you were in there.

Tuesday OT: a business from your childhood that is extinct

How about Best Buy? I used to love that place. When I moved to Ames it was the first time I lived near one. I would just go browse and the place was packed. I was in there back in March and there was no one in the place. There didn't seem to be anything I couldn't get for a much better...

Tuesday OT: a business from your childhood that is extinct

Can't believe Burger King is still a thing. The local BK is empty at all hours. I know when I'm in a huge rush I can pull straight up to the drive thru an order. Every other place is a proverbial crapshoot, whereas at BK it applies only in the literal sense.

Tuesday OT: a business from your childhood that is extinct

Interesting. That corner has been a Kum & Go since the 90's. There's a little strip mall to the south and motels up the hill toward The Inn that have been there decades too. 60's were before my time, wonder if it moved from there to Spirit Lake. I also used to work at the Kart Ranch...

Tuesday OT: a business from your childhood that is extinct

There was one in Spirit Lake into at least the mid to late 80's. It's the public library now.

Tuesday OT: a business from your childhood that is extinct

Man. Talk about getting punched square in the feels. I've got kids between 15 and 21 and I frequented well over a dozen of the places in the this post during those years. I have no way to describe Lazer X with Block Rockin' Beats blaring through the arena, flipping through singles cassettes...

    Used luxury cars

With the Bimmer the little problems were many initially, but the aftermarket parts have corrected those things. I was fortunate to have found one well maintained by the first owner. A fair amount of it at Campus Garage in Ames. It's a fantastic machine all dialed in. I would expect the exact...

The 2018+ models were a shock from the standpoint of edgy (by Toyota's standards) styling and cresting 300 hp. The XSE models look pretty sharp. Big fan of the look of the Accord Sport. Haven't followed them as closely since the move to exclusively turbo fours.

    49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

Right? Without even considering the money side of the argument that might have brought a few preseason votes Purdy's way from Wilson doubters. I feel bad for Wilson. He's had some missteps personally through the season that make me a little less sympathetic, but it's HOW bad it's been. He's...

    Lazard Love

I want to think that, but I feel like the Packers gave him a chance to become indispensable. He built a reputation there. I'm hoping they value that and compensate him accordingly. I'm very concerned about another team throwing money at him and having expectations for something a little...

    Lazard Love

Purdy has the spotlight at the moment, and rightfully so. Meanwhile our boy Lazard just keeps grinding. He's probably at his ceiling and is never go to be a featured WR1, but he lays out to make big catches and does the little things so well. Perfect example above, blocking three and counting...

    Idaho killings

"Guillard told The Spokesman-Review last month she has been building her “right brain” for years and, through tarot and other gifts, “can see things.” In one of her readings, Guillard said she saw the word “history.” She said she then used Google to search the University of Idaho’s history...

    49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

Agree that Purdy has added to the offense and this is a super fun ride, but we also can't discount the addition of McCaffrey. The only L since adding CMC was the Chiefs game where he was fresh off the plane from Carolina. The weapons are everywhere.

    Used luxury cars

Taking mine to a BMW dealer would be outrageous. That said, I don't take my other cars into dealerships for anything more than basic services. Honestly, I'd probably get bored maintaining a Toyota. Not sure where prices sit at the moment but a reach for a 2018 Camry is what I'd consider. I...

    Used luxury cars

I like to wrench on my own stuff, so my BMW 335i was cheap to buy and inexpensive to own and modify, but I don't value my own time much, I'm told. If you liked your Toyota then a Lexus is a logical step. An Avalon is the intermediate choice, maybe even a Camry on the newer end of that range...

Best Way to Listen to Music Files from Google Drive??

I loved getting music with my Play Rewards. Went through the YouTube Music migration, but lost a lot of tracks. No way to get it back now. I hate using iHeartRadio, but I'm a pretty infrequent listener.
